think they will make a new ti milly in anything better than s30poo .......i really want one but not s3opoo and the odds of the sprints are low so does anyone no the future ?

I don't find s30v to be substandard. It would be a whole lot cooler in Cru wear no doubt BUT it is still a great knife in s30v. I gifted my Pops a Millie and after he yard knifed it for a few months and cleaned 2 deer with it, I can still shave arm hair. What steel did you have in mind? Ask Sal, maybe he will accommodate you. You could always commission a sprint run and then sell the other 999...just sayin

I love s30v. Might be my favorite steel in the Spyderco lineup.

-As far as ti Millie sprints, I was just thinking about this today. I was thinking that it would be cool to have a ti millie in lc200n. It would be a high-end salt knife. Make a serrated version too while you're at it Sal. :D

+1

My question to the OP would be: what, objectively, do you find wrong with S30V? I used to complain about so many Spyderco offerings in it...and still feel similarly to a degree. But S30V, while no longer at the 'cutting edge' of super steels, still delivers a high level of performance, all things considered.

For the sake of transparency, I passed on a Ti Millie because of general S30V 'malaise' and picked up a Cru-wear...could not be happier. But the fact remains that S30V is still a fine, if not-exactly-exciting blade steel.

Remember your propensity to drop your knives in the ocean :D

The fluted Ti Military is one fantastic knife. I prefer the darker titanium handle over the lighter ones of recent.

I love S30V. It is a tried and true workhorse. There will always be a "better" steel out there but then again it depends on what you consider "better". Many factors to take into consideration. For all-around use I'd say S30V is prob my top pick.

Over the last year I've been getting quite friendly with S90V. The edge retention is outstanding. I'm still trying to master sharpening it though.

I know, I know...that's why you never hear me really pushing for this knife.

Here's what I would really like to see...

An FRN clone of the military (same shape and size) with backlock and 4 way clip. Made in Japan with serrated H1 blade. All in a sub $100 package. BAM!!

Keep the liner lock and I'm with you Surf :D

Never had any issues with S30V, been using it since Spyderco started with it and I'm very happy with it as a steel choice in a general use folder.

Sal, please listen to this feller. Fully serrated, por favor.

i like s30v ..... that is till i got m390 204p m4 3v .... dam even xhp is way better then s30poo i love the milly and would love to get one but never going to get another s30v knife. all the other knives i have can take a beating and still hold there own not my s30v tho just doesnt hold up.

I love this idea, oh my gosh.

I can't speak for m390, but I prefer s30v to 204p. It is easier to take it to very high level sharpness, and it has exhibited less issues with chipping (in my use). As far as edge retention I have done multiple rope cutting tests and I am unable to tell any difference between the two steels in edge retention. Given the choice in a folder, I would take s30v over 204p.

I'm not trying to change your mind about anything, but I think that the "advantages" of some of these steels over s30v are often over stated on the forums.

Knifeworks has a sprint coming with an integral lock, carbon scale and s90v.

Looking forward to that one!

That's right, I forgot about that one. Well, ginochipchip, there's a "half ti" Millie option for you at least. :)

but lets be honest the chance of me getting a sprint is slim....... i would love to have any of the sprints and have tried to get them but they are gone fast...

I'm with the OP on S30V, however an LC200n fluted Ti version sounds very nice. I've never really put my Tusk to good use, but I would that Mili.

I have seen some successful non S30V blades transplanted into Ti frames.

All this talk about fancy steels, yet I still carry around a Military I bought new in 1996 with the good old CPM440V blade. It's done well through the years. And so should any other high end steel that makes it into these knives.

That's the old on on the left, two-screw clip.
