Milled clip design

I'm not a fan of milled clips since they tent to tear up pockets.

Maybe you could inset a ball on the end of the clip, not exposed like most but like a big detent ball

Looks awesome! What CAD program are you using? That's different from the hole pattern commonly used on Sypderco knives, isn't it? Nice thing CAD is you can just make a copy of the part and modify it for different hole spacing.

Hey, Josh...you are one inventive fellow. Your CAD pics are great.
I'm not hot on milled clips, but I'm sure yours would sell like hotcakes.
good luck, friend.

I'm kinda curious to know where this product will go from here. Keep us posted, will ya?

Got the first print in the other day, made some tweaks and waiting on the next one to get here... this was a little too thin in the top section, so I made it thicker and I also elongated the thinned out section as well. But here is the one I have on a cqc7 for reference.

Agreed. A ball hidden underneath would be fantastic.
I'm not sure a ceramic detent ball would make much of a difference. I felt one years ago on a reate I believe it was, wasn't impressed. I think it's more how the ramp in and out of the pocket is done, along with the scale texture - but I may be wrong!

Nice! What kind of price point do you have in mind for the final product?
I haven't determined that yet, really it depends on the final price of machining and how much work I will have to do to finish them out. But I will probably offer it in a variety of options, satin/brushed, sand/bead blasted, and DLC coated black.

Cool! Different colours of anodization as well?

That is certainly on the table but I would likely leave that up to my customers to have done on their own. If it's popular at all, I may do a run of timascus clips at some point though. This clip design is just one out of several I hope to have an offer for the most common knives, including Hinderers at some point.

I got the chance to make one the other day, based upon the printed model that way I could check the real life "springiness"... I think I'm going to widen the middle section slightly.

But I think it will flow nicely w/ my first knife design... just got the entire thing 3D printed!

The tip is a little sharp as compared to your original CAD model of the clip, but looks fantastic otherwise. Very nice!

yeah you are right, I did it by hand and didn't get it exactly the same lol

Nice work. Is there a way to trim it down a bit so the overall side profile of the knife is slimmer?

Also, is that a modded Benchmade 975 ... got any more pics of it? Very nice!

Agreed. Stands too far from the body of the handle. Maybe contour it a little thinner where the screw holes are?
