Well, I was looking to buy a Rat model 1, did a bit of searching on the web to try and find the best price because well, the reason i wanted it was I heard it was a great folder for the price (love it by the way, despite the black crap on the blade)
I came across this website buyMilSpec.com that I could find basically no information on. I searched on the boards and came across one or two people linking to products on the site but no information how it turned out. I decided to take the plunge because it was almost a 10 dollar difference between a site I knew better (on a 30 dollar knife that's decently significant)
I called to check to see if the knife was in stock even though it stated quite plainly on the website the exact number in inventory so I could kind of gauge out the company a little. I figured it was worth the risk on this instance to order by what appeared to me to be some fly-by-nightish company, I talked to the guy on the phone and he said he had it in stock and seemed friendly enough.
So I crossed my fingers and went to order it and ran into an issue when I tried giving them my credit card
the website had a minimum $29 order because it was a yahoo storefront or something. So I called the guy back asking what I could do, he was incredibly friendly, he gave me several options
1. He could take my order over the phone (at the time I still wasn't terribly comfortable with this)
2. I could order from his amazon storefront (I was going to go with this with him on the phone, but from there they charged shipping)
3. I could add a couple dollar item to the shopping cart and check out and he would remove it manually on his end.
I went with option 3, he stayed on the phone with me, even gave me the item number of an item to add that was fairly cheap (but didn't have free shipping) and then immediately removed it and the shipping charges as soon as I sent the order in, it was off my order by the time I could click the link on my confirmation e-mail.
I also got free shipping (part of the reason I went with this site, despite being worried at first about it not being "known") which I figured would get me the knife in a week or two but I was in no rush. I placed the order on the 20th about midday and received my knife today (the very next business day)
Just figured I would put this out there in case anyone else every buys from there and is looking for information, I was VERY satisfied with my purchase, the customer service, price, and shipping time were absolutely excellent, despite me being a little bit difficult of a customer.
