Miltech-one

I heated my BM 42a in the oven at 150C for 20mins with MT-1. The results are nothing less than staggering! I will do this a couple more times and I don't expect to need to lube the knife very often after 3-4 treatments. This was advice from the very TOP! A hairdryer will and does work, but until you try it in the oven... I am still amazed at the result.:p

20mins at 150C? Sounds scary, but I might just do that if I ever get my hands on some Militec-1. But I have a question. Would anyone try this on a bali with, say, stag inserts? I might be getting one.

For the record, I also put a Leatherman Wave and a Camillus 154CM EDC in the oven at the same time. They went on a ceramic plate and no damage was caused to the knives. Even the Anodized finish of the BM 42a was unmarked. The washers of the EDC were unaffected by the ordeal. The results were superb. I asked Sal about FRN, but he has not got back to me yet. I would NOT do this with Stag, it is a natural product and my crack or dry out, don't risk it. Use a hairdryer!;)

What makes mil-tec 1 so great?I mean....what can it do that a regular teflon lube, like super-lube(the stuff that comes in a pen applicator),can't do?
IMHO the BM-42 is a great working bali right out of the box,how much better can it get?Or is this just a maintenence issue so the bushings don't wear out in the long run?
I'm just wondering how important it is to use the mil-tec or a lube that's similar, cause it sure seems like everybody here is jumping on the mil-tec wagon lately.Thanx to anyone who responds.

Coupla things:

1. Sweet .gif Clay! I would have one for either Staind, Tool, Disturbed, Korn, Incubus, or Limp Bizkit but I can't find good pictures that can be that small and still be recognizeable. How does one go about making a .gif?

2. Tetra Gun Oil is really cool stuff, it works really well and the only complaint I have of it is the smell.

3. You can also buy Militec-1 from BM but Tetra is readily available at a gun store (like Chuck said).

Stagger, Militec is not actually an oil/grease-type product - it bonds to the surfaces which it is applied to. Hence the need for heat, as the heat triggers the bonding process.

Personally, I'd use a heat gun, instead of a hairdryer - higher temp, without being high enough to damage the temper.

So when i get my bm42A and my miltech-one how do i apply it to the bm? Do i just put some miltech one to the joints and let it sit there or do I put it in the joints and blow dry it ???? Thz for the reply in advance.:)

I will just give another shout out for MILITEC-1, it is the best lubricant that you can get. I have had amazing results with it on all my knives as well as with all my balisongs. I think that this stuff is the best, and they have amazing customer service!!! It's phenomenal stuff, especially when you slightly heat it up!!!

Will a heat gun be 2 much heat to apply the miltehc-one ? How long should i hold the heat gun to the bm42a and should the titanium be extremely hot or decent hot ?
Brian- ps im getting my bm42a in less than 24 hours. Its in seattle right now and im in federal way(30 miles from seattle) yay.:D So u say i can buy torx srewdrivers at walmart and the sizes are t6 for the latch and t8 for the piviots right ?

Any decent heatgun has an adjustment knob, so you can adjust it not to be 'too much heat'.
