I followed a link someone posted to this maker and I like his designs, they look rugged, no nonsense, yet I also like the looks. I did some searching and it looks like he has a great rep but the comments etc were pretty old.

Anyone want to chime in on overall quality, heat treat, fit and finish, delivery times etc?

Eesav, I actually think you posted the link, it was for someone looking for a large dagger. Any experience with his stuff firsthand?

Thanks everyone for your opinions, plus or minus.

I kind of fell into collecting a few of Ted's knives. I met him many years ago at, among other places, the Tulsa Gun Show and bought a couple of his larger Bowie styles then. I guess my best description of his knives would be rough and ready. They're not finished out sleek, but they are tough and will do the job. I've got a couple of his axes but have never used them. Only real use I've put his bigger knives to is hacking the legs off of pigs which they did with no problem and no chipping of the edges. For the money, if you want a heavy duty no-frills knife, they are hard to beat. Ted and others post them on ebay from time to time. Ted is getting older, like many of us, but he's always done what he said he'd do for me on time.

Not familiar with his work firsthand. Great designs, though. An antique flavor to much of his work.

I collect his stuff. Tough and affordable. Finish ain't perfect. Worth every penny. Wish I bought a Waki from Ted before, now cause of health he ain't doing certain models.

As has been said, the finish ain't the greatest, most often parkerized. But, as for the overall quality, the word bullet-proof comes to mind. Heavy duty construction, and some unique designs. Bought one of his axes at the Tulsa show almost 20 years ago, and have never thought I got a bad deal, paid $90, it was marked $150! I walk through a show carrying it, and everyone wants to know where I got it. Ted said that was the best loss he ever took on a piece, because the advertising more than made up for it! You might find prettier knives, but you won't likely find anything tougher for anywhere near the price.
