Any thoughs on the brkt mini-canadian??? looks like a sweet little blade. how's he steel hold up??? as far a edge retention and corrosion resistance? Thanks!

the mini canadian is an awesome knife.... i have one in blaze orange G-10.. i've had mine for about 3 years now... it was one of my first barkies.... :D that and a highland...both great field knives...

i really like A2 steel... so far i haven't had much corrosion to deal with and the convex edge is wicked sharp.... i've used mine for just about everything...

I like my mini alot but I would prefer the mikro. It is shorter in overall length with the same size blade. You are basically only giving up the finger hold on the choil, so you end up with a three finger grip but for me its worth it for the size reduction.

GET ONE!

I frequently rave about my Mini Canadian here. I usually carry it in a Russell Woodswalker hip pocket sheath as an edc. Since I got it, I don't even really use my folders anymore. It is easily the best knife I have.

However, don't be fooled by it's size. It is a very sturdy, stout knife that will stand up to all sorts of hard use. Think of it as a super heavy duty Woodswalker (which I know you have). It holds its edge and is easy to maintain and sharpen, being convex and all. I recently used it on a five day motorcycle camping trip through Virginia. It and a Spirit multitool were the only knives I brought, and I did not once feel underknifed. I'd like to get another Bark River such as the Highland, but I don't really need one.

how long is the blade?? the brkt site says 4.25 inches I'm assuming thier counting the choil, or it might be a typo...also some of the sights I've been shopping on list it as close out and one as discontinued...are they still making them?

That blade length is a typo. It is 2.125". I had one, but decided for the PSK instead. They are both still part of current production.

The Mini-C provides a handfull of handle, which is nice for lots of use. If you're looking for something to conceal, I'd look at one of the smaller Barkies. If size isn't a concern, go for it. A lot of people use them and love them.

Mtnfolk mike, That is a nice looking combo. What is in the plastic case? (looks like parafin cotton balls)

The Mini Canadian is probably my favorite BRK&T. I've carried and used one daily since they first came out and have given them away as "Thank You" gifts to guides and outfitters.

It's small enough to carry every day on the belt or in the pocket, big enough to feel confident when it's the only blade I've got, and it doesn't scare the folks that see it.

You can make great fuzz sticks, skin small and large animals, and even baton with it if you're careful.

The A2 takes a fantastic looking patina with use and I've never had a problem with rusting. The newer MiniCan's also come with the JRE Industries leather sheath which is ambidextrous and can be used for belt, pocket, or neck carry.

Rescure Riley, You said on another thread that the Mini-C goes for $50. Where? That is a great price. Makes them very tempting.

Thanks
Chris

The cutting part of the blade is just a hair over 2", and the choil is nice for more varied grip positions. The choil is also good for scraping a firesteel.

The mini-Canadian is the sharpest knife I own (well, that my daughter owns but that I sharpen for her). The size of the blade makes it almost laughably easy to sharpen up razor sharp.

I tried to order a mini canadian a few weeks ago (from a knife website that shall remain nameless), but the order has gone into never-never land. It seems to be perpetually 'pending'. Sent them email, no response. Called their customer support line, it's been disconnected. I'm bummed because they were offering the mini canadian in curly maple, which I haven't seen anywhere else. I guess I'll have to settle for some other handle material. :(
