Mini Griptilian - Equivalent to Mini griptilian but better handle scales?

I must be in the minority.

I actually kinda like the Noryl GTX...

Not really. I have a blue mini-grip that sees some hard use. It is good, durable stuff and I like the colors (don't tell the tough guys). I got my wife a pink one that she carries everyday. She had the same experience I did with an expensive liner lock...it came open in her purse (mine in my pocket) and she demanded a new knife. Who am I to argue with a woman when she wants a new knife? Naturally, I had to have one too...;)

I can't really remember, most likely someone on the Benchmade forums pointed it out, once you realize the shape of the scales/liners are identical, you can put two and two together.

I apologize for one more sidetrack on this thread, but I just got done swapping a Presidio blade into the Bone collector handle. Thanks again for the tip, I really like the result. The blade does make contact with the backspacer (& the clip screws if any side force is placed on it), but once I get those clearanced out, it's going to be a really nice combination.

Well guys, I know I was asking for alternative, but I ended up getting a great deal on a BM 551 Griptilian instead of the mini and I am having Keyman make me some custom scales for it. Still going to come in at less than $200 when all is said and done. I really appreciate all the advice and suggestings. Hopefully this thread will help guide some others make decisions on their next knife.

Those custom scales look great Keyman!

I just got a 555HG in a trade deal and I was planning on getting some scales right away, but I have to say, the stock ones don't feel as bad as I was expecting. I'm sure I'll get the bug and want some soon but I really was surprised by the stock ones.

Mini barrage? Same scale material, same 154CM steel; but with full liners and assisted Axis. Nice knife, great blade.

Mini Bone collector? Better scales, IMO, G-10 or 'Walnut' wood, steel upgrade to D2, full liners, easy on the pocket.

Mini Presidio? Recently discontinued, same 154CM steel, annodized aluminum scales, great blade shape, full liners, heavy duty knife.

...tough pick, I love the Barrages, that would be my choice.
