No problem Bubba.

Not sure who will be coming and who already knows how, but i'd be happy to do a clay-coated heat treating demo with my oven if we are doing any kind of formal demos. If not, i'll be looking to make up some damascus so will order some supplies from darren ellis ahead of time but may need some pointers as i've only done it a few times.

I would love to see that. By then i should have some pieces of 1095 to HT

No problem! The oven takes a bit to get up to temp, so we may as well do a bunch once it gets up there. Opening the door will drop the temp down to 1200 or so from 1450, so putting a new blade in allows it to get up to temp from 1200-1450 and soak enough above critical. 1095 doesn't need to soak very long, so its easy to do batches. My little oven can hadle blades up to 14" OAL. I can also lug down 5 gallons of my quench oil, but will need a way to heat it. We can just dunk in some hot steel to heat it up if we don't have a hotplate of some kind.

IG,
As much as I appreciate you designating me as "special guest", I'm not sure I can make it! We are having a combination house warming/ going away party that day! I might be able to sneek down for a few minutes early in the day. I would however like to get in contact with Farmer Phyl because my next stop after Iraq will be Hawaii! I'll be in touch when I get up North.

Whit, Phil will be here the 5th also. I will be showing him and building him a forge. So if you or anyone else want to come over no problem. Forge building 101.;) Phil you need to order a propane hookup from Darren Ellis. I have everything else on hand.
I believe that Phil will also be here during the course of the week, if that would work better for you. We just got to get the dates from him.;)
