Mini Lahar Proto

My friend Thomas from Kershaw introduced me to Tim Galyean about 4 or 5 years ago. At the time, Tim was employed by Kershaw as the R&D Director, due to his attention to detail, mad skills with heavy machining equipment, and refusal to put out anything that didn’t work EXACTLY as it should……at the time, because Tim has decided to go his own way, and work for himself…which SHOULD lessen his wait times, at least this month…my sincere hope is that he is able to balance demand, output, and enjoyment of his craft to his own personal betterment, and the satisfaction of his customers in equal measure.

There are no accidents on the knife that you see here, no small details left unconsidered….this knife represents the best that Tim is able to produce to date….otherwise he would not have made it.

Best Regards,

gorgeous, very nice.

But, the gold should be real (imho)

It would be no problem whatsoever for a good engraver to undercut a line and fill it with gold wire....should add between $200 and $400....which is a price that Tim probably didn't feel like adding to the final cost...would you pay that price, OE?

Best Regards,

Sweet blade!!
Now when is Kershaw gonna do a production version of the smaller Layhar?!? ;)

Tim, I gotta be honest with you. The Lahar is my favorite folder design, period. I mean I'm happy with just G-10 and VG-10. Talonite and Titanium, man you're killing me! Perfect knife ever!

I like the Lahar a lot too.

Kohai, are you saying that Tim is no longer with Kershaw? what a loss to Kershaw!

Lovely, very very clean.

Tim, any particular reason you favor tip-down (especially on the flippers)? I find that I'd carry my JYD much more frequently if the clip was on the other end. And if I had gotten the titanium version like I wanted in the first place, but that's neither here nor there! :D

PJ, I prefer tip down on my flippers mainly because I think it is the mose astheticaly pleasing look, and the clip acts as a stop for overtravel of the lock bar. I like to cover the lock slot so it looks as clean as possible. I still find myself rolling the knife in my hand on a tip down piece.

Very impressive as I've come to expect from you Tim.

Beautiful lines and great size. Love it!
