mini NE gathering

Thanks for sharing the pictures. For future reference, when people post pictures of forum members, it would be helpful to say who's who (for us guys that will never get to one of the meet ups [unless it's in Ontario ])

You should head south of the border this summer for the meet-up south of Rochester. How far are you from Buffalo? It'll only be about an hour and a half drive from there.

Also, you guys looked like you had some fun. I'd hate to be an unsuspecting hiker meeting you fellas on the trail. I wonder what someone not into knives would make of your weapons cache!:D

BTW ... how was the expo ?

The Expo was good. Marcelo, Siguy, and theonew mostly cam for the hike at Haraman, so I only spent about an hour there. Half of that was getting acquainted with our Mods here(Esav and Ken C) They are really cool guys and I enjoyed meeting them.

The Expo is a great place where Manufacturers such as Shimano, Penn, Daiwa, Berley, etc display and show all their existing and new gear. They have Fishing Pro's on hand to demonstrate techniques or just shoot the sh%t with.

I am not a Hunter, but there were dozens of Hunting related booths and companies with their gear and Pros as well. I saw a guy testing a new climbing deerstand, as well as other hunting related gear.

Of course there were hundreds of retailers at the show as well. After you got all the details of the new products you are interested in from the Manufacturers or Pro's, it was off too find the best deal. I have purchased alot of gear from these shows in the past, and you can always find a retailer willing to discount well below retail.

The Expo also has very nice exhibits of Boats, Kayaks, Canoes, ATV'S, as well as a Birds of prey exhibit; with live Eagles, Hawks, owls, etc. There are numerous fishing and Hunting seminars going on, so you can grab a seat and listen to the hunting pro's discuss skills and tips. The fishing pro's have a platform and a huge tank loaded with bass, so thety can show as well as discuss techniques on how to get the big boy to bight!

If you worried about bringing the kids, don't be. There are fly fishing classes and competitions for kids as well as other things that grab their attention.

All in all it is a great way to spend a Winter day. You really need about 4-6 hours there to appreciate everything the show has to offer.

There is plenty of food and beverage to satisfy your hunger, as well as well as cold beer to lower your inhibitions and spend that extra money on that expensive gear that you always wanted. If you go, check out the jerky stands. Excellent venison, Elk, gator, beef, and other jerky to be had:thumbup:

Oh yeah, there were knife booths also:D

Hariman was a great spot, and theonew whom I haven't met before is an awesome guy to hang with. The 200+ miles I drove yesterday were well worth it, due to the great company I had!

Hariman State Park is beautiful and hast to be 10 times more so when all the green comes back. We had a perfect day and I think we made the best of it!

I'm the only mug that didn't bring a camera so no pics from me. I had an awesome time as well. I wish we had more time to hike, we easily could have spent theh rest of the day there hiking, heck even do an overnight, but alas one can only piss off a wife so much.....I hope to have more get togethers this season and explore more of Harriman and other ares in the tri-state area.

Thanks Simon. It's nice to put names to faces. I have seen (too) many pictures of Tony , quite a few of you (Simon), a couple of Marcelo and one of Theo. Theo looked different in this picture so it threw me off.

Theo looked different in this picture so it threw me off.

That's because I need a haircut :o

I prefer having longish hair in the winter, keeps me warmer since I don't like to wear hats, and then shorter hair in the summer.

Hey, great pictures! I see that you're still carrying that old bone handled trapper I gave you. I love it when those old knives get used and dont just sit around in somebodies sock drawer like that one was in my drawer!--KV

Keith, i actually passed that blade onto Tony on that trip, because i hardly ever use it. i just can't seem to stop carrying my trusty stockman long enough to give any of my other folders a good run anymore...
