Mini-review Buck Paklite

40 min with sandpaper - 280/400 gird + 5 min DMT fine/extra fine + 1000/2000/2500 grid sandpaper + 5 min stroping - on hand, because i dont have grinder ...

Sweet, usefull, strong, light, cheap, big enough for EDC tasks - 15-17$ now i think for new leather sheat ...

Doesn't look too difficult - looks like short work with a file!!! I paid $14.50 US for mine so i'll be less concerned if the modding goes bad.

I'll also be doing a Kydex sheath for it, but that will have to wait awhile.

How does the knife keep an edge?

I like mine. Excellent knife for the money. The sheath holds the knife well but might be bulky to carry around the neck. I don't think you will regret it if you buy one.

I have a real affinity with this blade, and it gets a ton of pocket time. Very aesthetically pleasing too, it has the grind lines, the engraved logos and the jimping you would only find on 200 dollar designer EDCs elsewhere. For a slicing/skinning knife, the 420HC does a good job, and easily takes a very sharp edge. I can't believe more people aren't really into this blade. I was hoping they'd release an orange version at blade show :P

it's primary grind is very fine, in combination with the recurve profile this thing will slice forever. Typical Buck 420HC, very well heat treated steel, so even when it does dull on you a few passes with some 2000 grit and it's shaving again.

I looked at one at Bass Pro Shop today, I think it will be the Buck Knife I buy this year.

I have this knife and love it. It rides in my pocket most days and the jimping will spark a ferro rod to start fires. I want to get an Izula but on a budget so this will have to do for now, besides it is cheap enough to replace if it gets lost.

I've got the caper style, I found the handle a little better than the skinner.
If it had a kydex sheath I would use it as a necker.
I prefer its handle to either the becker necker or crkt dogfish.
I may buy the skinner as well

Well, i 've had mine for some time now and it really is sweet.

I've made feather sticks with it, batoned a bit, re-profiled the edge - it slices TP cleanly without tearing easily shaving hair - all for ~$15. What an awesome deal!!!

I do wish it had a shade more blade length, but i do have a Trailmaster to pair it up with so that's not a big deal at all. I'll be making a kydex sheath for it, but otherwise it's a great little knife.

Whereabouts did you pick it up? Haven't seen any locally, or from any of the usual website I check out with reasonable shipping to Canada.

I bought a kydex sheath from a forum member for 15.00 ans added a small BSA firesteel... Makes a perfect neck knife.

I have two of the model being reviewed, one silver and the other black. When I go home and put the two together I discovered the silver one does have a 2.5" blade but the black one is much longer and a little blade heavy. I like them both but enjoy the plain uncoated silver one the most. I'm using it as my hunting knife right now. I wanted to get both versions of the caper too, but none of the stores can keep them in stock long enough for me to buy one. I may just have to order a coated and uncoated version online.

I think is it a great little knife so far.
