Minimal swiss army knive??

The only thing holding me back on buying the Cadet.. is no scissors. If Victorinox had a Cadet X,I'd buy it.
Victorinox, I have read, no longer has the machinery to make the scissors for the 84 mm models, so they would have to develop and build all new tooling for it, if they were going to make a Cadet X. Still, I feel pretty sure that Victorinox understands that a Cadet X is one of the most requested products, but they keep making everything BUT what we are all asking for.

Which model was that??
It has been known as the Solo or the 1. They are actually making it in the new Alox Refined series, just not the original Alox model. There are still plenty in stock you can order, though.

thanks for the Information! I do not understand how the newest version is an upgrade?? It looks to me like the handle would have less grip! The price also is twice as higher and I do not know why??

The new one has a locking blade.

Would the Cadet be worth it..even though it doesn't have scissors?

Also,DLT has the Cadet is either green or blue. Can't decide what color I'd want if I got one.

The Cadet is a solid folder and in my opinion well worth it. However I have never owned or handled one because over 20 years ago I snagged the last Cadet II at my local shop before they went extinct. Only difference is a pen blade where the file exists on the Cadet. A two layer 84mm Alox has a good feel.

I’m a long time backpacker and for both scissors and nail file the little jewel Vic Classic is always in my kit. I still like the Bantam too and don’t need a bunch of screw drivers so often I just take that and a Classic. However I reserve the right to rotate EDC as seen fit. lol

Thats an extraordinary good team you have there!!!!!

A classic paired up with a alox bantam or cadet gives you a very wide window of mission capability! Heck of a lot of bases covered with those two.

I have teied carrying Both designs lately.

The Cadet is The Winner.

It Is not so much heavier Compared to the Bantam and the File and Philips Screw Driver have proven handy.

I have NEver seen a file like this one a Swiss Knife before. It does not look like Metal Sandpaper like my classics and instead has an appearance Like a Traditional Single Cut File.

What Do You guys need scissors So Badly for if you have 3+ Knife Blades on yer pockets??

I never see much use on my Scissors because I have so many Knife blades with me all day!!

To me it's worth it for 1 reason.
Since I mostly carry other traditional knives that just have 1 or 2 knife blades I always keep a 58mm Vic on me ( jetsetter or rambler these days ) which has the scissors so I get to view and judge every victorinox model just the same as any other pocket knife.
I looked last week and the green was currently out of stock, if it still is then just get the blue.

I typically just have 1 pocket knife ( most but not all have 2 blades ) and frequently a belt knife, but that's not really the point.
Scissors are different and do different things.
I can trim my fingernails , it's easier to snip a tray thread with scissors, a stray mustache hair itching my nose or lip, you name it.
If you have scissors on you you'll find appropriate uses for them.

I think I'd be asking them to bring this back before I'd ask for the scissors which will probably never happen, just because it's there I occasionally use the nail cleaner instead of improvising with something else but it is just as easy to use something else and I would much rather have a pen blade.

They did have a special run in the UK and I agree with you there should be a run available here too. The pen blade on the Cadet II is seriously impressive. You have your hand on the two layer 84mm handle and the short pen blade is very dexterous. You can also easily slide your forefinger up the spine to regulate how deep it will slice into a package so you can just score the tape and not damage anything below. My original has a split ring but the special edition below does not. I use the nail file on my Classic which also has seriously sharp and useful scissors. The Cadet II is a keeper.

That's the beauty of the smaller secondary blade on every traditional pocket knife, but Victorinox pen blades are especially nice.

I feel sore about not keeping up with this thread. A Cadet 2? Im immediately invested in the idea and ill be buying it as soon as I can if they decide to do a run in America too, itll sell like crazy here The synergy models need to fix the clips so they can be removed or not be so flimsy
Ive always been a fan of the smaller secondary blade even though I've seen a lot of people found it redundant, it gets a lot of use with me
