Just looked up “pioneer kit” - pretty cool - gotta add some things to our vehicles now. They’re more set up for outdoor survival than creating fighting positions, but these days that seems increasingly appropriate…

What kind of rescue tool are you talking about?
In the military, the trucks always had a pioneer kit, in case you ran into trouble or needed tools while you were parked in a truck harbour or get unstuck from some bad ground. Immediately after being exposed to this concept, I was thinking: "Why doesn't my vehicle have this?".

The kit that came with the trucks in the military was pick, shovel, and axe, but I substitute a big knife (currently a Cold Steel SRK) for the pick. I also include a Morokniv chisel, because sometimes you are far from home and someone will start eyeing your nice knives to use for something they are most certainly not made for. For the axe, I use an Estwing Camp Axe because while it's far from being my best axe, it's practically indestructible and that has value when you are far from home and workshop. For a long road trip I'll toss in a Silky Saw.

For a rescue tool, I either take a Boker Cop Tool or Benchmade Triage, usually the latter. They're both great designs.

Prometheus beta flashlight nd a Benchmade Proper in CF and S90V. That and my little front pocket wallet and I'm good.

Recently spent a couple of days on the coast. While on the beach it was just sandals, swim trunks, and my Spyderco Pacific Salt.

Only Recon1.
That's what I usually have on me. Only Recon1. S35VN spear point blade, great ergos handle and triad lock. Hard to beat.

A SAK Spartan and K390 Dragonfly in my pockets. I’ll always have a Leatherman in my bag.
