Minnesota piglets!

I was personally shocked at the laws in MN. I live right next to Fort Snelling State Park. I was taken back when I mentioned to the DNR officer that my intention was to collect dead branches and practice me fire craft skills in approved fire ring areas that it was not permitted. I understand the idea of leaving no trace but to me this is beyond the pale. I have permission from a few in Eagan to gather sticks on golf courses, but that is it.

Yeah, I got to talk to him in the phone a few weeks back, seemed like a really cool cat. Let's see how he feels about hosting :)

For me - when retirement comes - Imaoutahere! The only reason I came and stayed to this point has been employment :)

The state bird is a Loon for a reason

In the mean time if it gets much worse - there is always a river to cross that would not add much to my commute:thumbup:

In all seriousness, I wish Minnesota were more like the over the river-ers.... I mean, the citizens own their own football team fee cryin out loud..... Not some fat cat bankongntycoon criminal. Wtf is in the water here? Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu.............cat. Haha.

Say what you will about the laws, at least we can own pretty much anything. Was just looking at the knife laws, the only things expressly banned are otf auto knives.

Knife laws are great here. I believe however that they are just one of those things the takers are using to trick us into giving away our great state. The land of 10000 lakes is on its way to the likes of commiefornia unless something happens quickly.

I'm sad now.

I think we may need some private land.

The problem is cities have there own ordinances. I work in the entire metro area so I find these laws to be highly onerous.

Bayport, MN Sec. 26-28 The following are declared to be public nuisances affecting the public peace and safety: Any person possessing a knife,
Blaine, MN 50-111 & 50-114 Deadly weapons concealed or in public park. Deadly weapons means the following: Daggers, dirks and knives.
Eagan, MN 10.10. Weapon: any device designed as weapon capable of producing death/bodily harm. Any double-edged knife
Minneapolis, MN 393.10. Y 4" "Weapon" does not include, except when used as a weapon, a folding knife with a blade of 4" or less in length,
393.60. any knife or weapon in any school building/grounds school bus, school parking area or sidewalks adjacent thereto
St. Paul, MN 225.01 Y 4" a folding knife with a blade in excess of four (4) inches,
Stillwater, MN Sec. 52-4 No Knives on School Property
Woodbury, MN Sec. 16-55 Y 3" No person shall possess or carry in any public site or open space any knife with a blade greater than 3”

That is true, I actually spoke with a Minneapolis PD officer, not too long ago about carrying my AMS, while not strictly in line with the ordinance, he said he would be shocked if anyone would find it problematic. I was pleased.

What the hell. I can open carry with a permit, but go to jail for carrying a blade longer than 3" openly. Wtf. I'm moving.

I don't think you can go to jail for it, maybe get a ticket. I could be wrong though. I think the main issue is what the blade is being used for...if it's clearly being used as a weapon, it will be a problem. However, if it's pretty clearly a tool, then I doubt it is a problem. I am not a lawyer, and not trying to give legal advice, just my opinion based on my experiences, and conversations I've had with LEOs.

From what I've gathered, its state law saying that you can carry any knife as long as its intended purpose is not to harm.

Insert Above disclaimer about legal advise here

From the police officers I have discussed the issue with it sounds like the most that would happen would be if you annoyed the cop he could write you a disorderly conduct ticket. That would not be so much of the issue as taking your Busse knife and you and I both know if that happened you would never see it again. On the positive side, I agree with Nuclear Swine that MN's knife laws are laissez-faire in general. As long as you are not being a douchebag you are probably good to go.

Well then let's just rent the Legion, take it off the street, and get it on! :)

Oh wait this is not the stripper post....

I'm disappointed that this fizzled out so quickly. No one with a big backyard out there? We could meet at a firearm/knife show even.
