Mission - 12" A2 MPK

Ok now things are starting to beome clear. I think I understand things now but to be sure:
When I sharpen my blade I steel first and then always use a fine ceramic rod afterwards. Now this aligns the edge and then the rod buts on a micro bevel. Now if I do this repeatedly I will increase the micro bevel eventually to a size that makes sharpening somewhat difficult and has poor edge retention and cutting abilities. Another possibility is the edge will break off from being flopped around so much. THe first possibility seems more like to happen to me first than the other though. However, either one though means it is time to re do the edge bevel with a stone and then the process starts over again.

Thank you very much Mr. Stamp for the time you have given me already but if you could just point out any mistakes in my above reasoning I would appreciate it.

thanks and take care

Cliff,

I find your comments about warm spots amusing when you held the knife loosely. I hold knife firmly due to your suggestions and those of Bando practioners on how to get optimal performance when chopping.

I found a firm grip really helped with the lighter knives like the MPK-S.

Collin, that's it exactly.

Will, its relative. While I consider the grip that I use on my khukuri loose, the handle is not slipping around and its very tight compared to some who will actually release the handle upon impact or only keep contact with a couple of fingers.
