Mnandi improved

I'll be sure to take some picts very soon!

Thanks JoHnYKwSt for the great comparison pics, and explanation - I too got confused between your African Blackwood and the Desert Ironwood. I really like all your Mnandis, just beautiful.

Pics please tomsch? Infact, pics of any well used Mnandis would be great!

The improvements certainly are cool, but I prefer the looks of the predecessor Mnandi. That said, they are both CRK knives and I'd be happy to own either model.

It doesn't appear that the clip on the new one can be removed without hardware. Has anyone contacted CRK to see if they offer this hardware and if it is available? Are there any other sources for it? I would love to go without the clip on my new Mnandi.

I really like the new clips. They really look like they're "finished", instead of the older ones that look exposed. The older pivots (to me) look a little better, but the newer ones are still nice.

Can the older clips be replaced with the new ones?

I replaced the new clip with an old one, so I would assume the process is reversible.

It is still the 2mm key but the male part of the screw is now part of the clip. If you want to remove the new style clip you need a seperate male screw to put inplace of the clip. I'm not a fan of that and prefer the old clip in every way I think.

I believe it's still the same 2mm Allen, unless they've changed it.

interesting to see the differences-impovements
I have 2 S30V one with the multifinish thumb groove and dual grooved clip-larger pivot
not sure which I like more, maybe the "older" as I own that one..

how's the S35 going on the mnandi?

I like the old pivot and the new clip, looks like I'm going to have to buy one second hand and get a new clip for it.

For you current Mnandi owners of the new style, do you prefer the new jimmying to the old style. I really liked it on my old mammoth Damascus Mnandi and am not sure if I'd want more aggressive jimmying on a gentlemans knife.

What do you think?

I am wondering the same thing as 2dead......I guess the clip is removable from the inside but you have to take the knife apart to remove the clip????

Both clips are removable without taking the knife apart and both are completely interchangeable, but the old one can be removed and screwed back together without a clip but the new clip has an integrated bolt so you need a screw if you want to carry it without a clip.

I'm with 1abominable1. I prefer the new pivot screw with the old style clip. I can't get past the screw head being on the front now.

Is it just me or does it look like the finger groove on the blade has much more meat to get purchase on when opening? It could be shadows but it sure looks that way.

I am liking the new design but as someone who has never owned or used a Mnandi I can't say for certain. Based upon pics I like the new design better and I will get one once my 25 gets here.

The old style are easier to stack if you take the clip off. :D
