Mnandi: My latest Obsession

One of the nicest clips of any of my knives, even compared to my customs. I usually carry in a pouch but have used the clip on many occasions. It's very secure but you will find yourself checking to see if your Mnandi is still there since it is so light.
Good to know. Thank you! If only I can find a left handed one!

Very nice collection Alex! I recognize a few of those.
Thanks for sharing!

Thank you sk8n,
when I saw the first time a pictures of a Mnandi I was not so interested in it. After speaking with Mad_Maxx i decided to give her a try and the first was the mammoth bark 2nd row 2nd column and after a damascus blade with mammoth inlay and... you know!

They can be quite addictive, can't they?. You have a nice diverse collection with some really nice older models. I love that jigged madagascar, that just so happens to be my most carried Mnandi. The diamond and gold inlay is another that you don't see too often. Of course mammoth is always so nice, IMO.

Getting closer to finding just the right Bocote Mnandi that hits the spot for me. This is my third try. The wood on the first one I got just didn't do it. A little too dark for me. Not that it was terrible looking, just not for me (even with a Spirograph blade). Passed it on to a good BF member who I know would give it the love it deserved! Another popped up that caught my eye. Somewhat light colored with a wavy grain, rather than a straight line grain. Bought it. However, still kept thinking there was something out there that would appeal to me more. Hence, a third try with this one that just left CRK a mere 10 days ago or so. Wood tone is light and there is something about the wood grain that keeps me looking at it.

Here are comparison shots of the two Bocote Mnandis now in the collection. Still trying to determine which I like more .... as in which one stays, which one goes ... or whether they both stay!!!

If you want my opinion Dennis, I think you should keep both of them. :D
In all seriousness, each one has it's own unique characteristics. It's pretty much impossible to pick a favorite.

Dennis,
Since they are so different they should stay both in your collection.

My personal opinion the last is very nice.

Thanks for the comments. I believe both will stay .... at least until I find a closer match to my small Bocote Sebenza. (So much for trying to keep only one of each inlay type in the collection!)

Here's a quick pic of the Mnandi drawer as of today.

(yes, two Box Elders occupy space with the two Bocotes ..... but I just can't force myself to choose between the Box Elders either!!)

BTT with a question.
Mnandi production starts in 2001
We know that
Sebenza Blade Steel Timeline

First knives were ATS-34

Switched to BG-42 October 1996

Switched to S30V January 2002

So I suppose we have only one year of BG-42 Mnandis. Is it rigth?

I believe one year of BG-42 Mnandis sounds right. I believe the majority were numbered as well.
The majority were Ziricote but Knifeart had a limited run of redwood burl as well. I know there were other inlays as well.
