Mnandi: My latest Obsession

It's been a while, but am again able to add a new Mnandi pic to my favorite thread! It all started when one of my BF friends (Falco57) posted about his newly acquired Tamboti trio in this thread. I had never been interested in acquiring a Tamboti Mnandi ... until, of course, they were discontinued!! Alessio's thread had me searching. Then, totally by chance, one of the dealers I frequent (and who is sadly going out of business) found one stuffed in the back of his safe. I jumped on it. What is really neat about this one is that it has a subtle chatoyance to the wood. Unfortunately, two dimensional pictures don't reflect the light (almost curly maple-like) bands going through the wood. It's one of those inlays where you have to hold it and eyeball the wood as you rotate the knife back and forth. But trust me ... it's really nice! Not sure when Tamboti was discontinued, but this one was made on March 29th, 2012.

Also, I was wondering what you all think about the clip. Do you use it or do you take it off? Thanks.

Again, beautiful knife. My clips stay on. When carried in a shirt pocket, you would almost think it is a pen!

I decided to keep my clip on also. I don't like it loose at the bottom of my pocket. Too easy to bet banged up down there.

I carry a bark ivory raindrop mnandi and keep it in a med william henry sheath(old style, no clip) which fits it perfectly,MUCH smaller than the CRK sheath. Sheath was orig designed for the wh t10 model and can be found on ebay occasionally, I'd post a pic but don't know how. Never like clipping a knife to my pocket, always seemed to bang it with my hand to get inside the pocket.....

The Mnandi is the only knife I leave the clip on. It is just too pretty to take off. Highly well designed.

The CRK clip is MUCH nicer than the william henry clip imo even though the wh knife is much better made imo(it should be as they cost a hellof a lot more than the average CRK)...........I own many of both...........

I have been out of the Collecting Game for Awhile but would always check the boards now and then. Funny how things happen, I just scored my latest Mnandi last week, just in time to commemorate the third year of this thread and also to complete the set (finally). thanks for looking Guys and Gals.

Fantastic score, glad you were able to complete your ROF collection!

I don't own an Mnandi but can I ask, are these knives typically safe queens for most of you who own them? Or if not specifically shelved, carried lightly in pocket and rarely used? I don't feel like I would use one of these if I owned one. I would carry it occasionally and use it extremely lightly. They're all really awesome looking knives--I hope to own one one day!

Many of mine are safe queens but some of mine get carried and used. At the moment my jigged madagascar rosewood gets the majority of my pocket time. I carry a Mnandi just about every day.
