Modern Alternative to the 110?

Kershaw makes several sizes of lockbacks in the same spirit of the venerable but affordable 110.

all discontinued though, I thought? secondary market...unless one finds old stock sitting somewhere....unless I'm wrong on these 110 like models Kershaw made?

Harking back to the Crooked River recommendations, including mine, I was thinking that it isn’t only the clip point and bolsters that make the comparison, but also the weight of the knife. The 110 is a hefty folder by modern standards. The Crooked River fits the bill in terms of heft.

Some people disregard heavy folders, and when I am up in the mountains I do take lighter, more modern kit: I’m carrying a lot of other gear. But for less hard-core activities I will often opt for a heavier folder because I like the feel in hand. I adore the 110. I have three. One bog standard, one from the custom shop, one of the outrageously pleasing SK Blades products.

A slightly lighter alternative to the 110 is the 112. I bought one at the factory store a number of years ago when it was still in El Cajon, CA. It is a good quality, solid, daily user that I used for a number of years on active duty. Rosewood scales and brass bolsters go well together.

I started looking with this very question in mind: A buck 110, but just a bit more modern, better steel, clip, maybe a bit slimmer in the pocket.

I arrived at a Coldsteel Code4 clip point in CTS-XHP. So far, I am quite happy with it :)

Benchmade now offers customization on their crooked rivers, pretty sweet! I don't own a 110 but I'll prob own a mini crooked river!

The first time I saw pics of the Crooked River, I thought modern 110.
Two sizes and customizable.
I think we should all get one:)

I held the Mini Crooked River at AG Russell recently. I really wanted that one over the full size despite having large hands. When I held the mini it was a little smaller than I thought. Of course thats subjective.
I do wish the edges were slightly more rounded on them though.

I like the “smallness” of the mini. Always thought the 110 was a tad large and heavy for an edc blade.
The 110s with micarta look interesting.
The Gayle Bradley 2 fills the “110” role for me.
