Hey guys, what are your thoughts for a modern folder that would go well with a suit? I'm thinking in the sub $75 range, with a 3 inch blade or less. A deep carry pocket clip is ideal, but not mandatory. Scales that won't destroy the suit pants are necessary though. I'm thinking a frame lock would make more sense because of this. Carbon fiber and a damascus blade would look nice, but I doubt there's much in my price range. Any ideas?

That's funny, I came here to recommend a leek. I've handled a few of them lately and they seem perfect suit/office knives. I like the composite blade model best. They're the best AO I"ve found where kickback at closing is concerned...very easy to close with little resistance. I'll probably never own one but they do impress me.

The ultimate would be something from William Henry. The Leek is an excellent choice though.

Cheap: RAT 2 in black.

Inexpensive: Kershaw Leek.

Pricier: A medium range Spyderco--your choice.

Pricey: Some of the better gent's stuff from A.G. Russell.

Best: Any Chris Reeve knife. Alternate: a William Henry.

Thanks guys! My only concern with the leek is how much knife sticks out when carrying it tip up. Any after market deep carry clips?

Look up the spyderco air! It's a sexy gentleman's knife and works perfectly when wearing a suit/tuxedo, and while it doesn't have a clip, it does offer m4 steel along with silver glass fiber scales, and you can get it for ~$140 on amazon :D

The Leek is a great knife. One thing to watch out for, though, is that if that safety catch comes off (it slides) the knife can fire in your pocket. I have two and love them, but I upgraded, partially because of this issue. I still recommend the knife but just be aware of this issue.

I upgraded to a Spyderco Caly3 Carbon Fiber. The handle dimensions are identical and it carries very deep in the pocket (but they are more $ than what you are looking for).

A Spyderco Delica would be a good choice ($61) and the Cold Steel Code 4 ($60). The Code 4 has an aluminium handle like the Leek and is pretty slim. It will not tear up your pants. But it does have a 4 inch blade, which might be a little big.

If you're willing to spend a bit more, check out the Caly 3 carbon fiber. Really great knife.

AG Russell 3" lockback comes in CF and other nice looking materials. No pocket clip but comes with a nice little leather slip case. It is a very nice knife for the money.

The Large CRKT Eros, Model: K456XXP, should do the trick.

Also in the "willing to spend a bit more" category are the EnZo Birk 75 and Spyderco Sage 1. Both have deep carry clips and CF scales.

+1 to the Kershaw Leek, i don't really have a preference for tip up/down so i don't have an issue with it sticking out of the pocket too much carrying it tip down, but i can see what you're concerned about and i wouldn't worry about it too much, if anything you can carry it tip down. But it is all around a great knife, easily one of my favorites

You might want to check out the CRKT Swindle. A little quirky, but a pretty cool modern take on a gentleman's folder.

Check out the kershaw skyline, they make a model with carbon fiber and s30v but I don't know the price, or check out the kershaw cryo, very nice knife for only $30

CRKT Eros or ripple would make great low cost gents folders. Both knives come in cheaper options around the$25-35 range or better versions in the $70-120 range and the bearing systems are an added bonus.
