Modern looking folders...

Anyone have any suggestions? Nothing crazy, just modern, minimal looking folders.

I think two of the best looking knives I've seen so far are the Boker Kwaiken and the Spyderco Puukko w/ the G10 handle(not a folder but design/looks wise it's great).

Since you like the Kwaiken, you might like the CRKT Hissatsu and the Heiho.

As for the Pukko, check out the Spyderco Nilakka. It looks like the Pukko but a folder.

Edit: If you're looking more along the lines of something less pricey but still worth getting, I'd recommend the Kershaw Asset or the Tremor.

Some of the French "Thiers" style knives are very clean and understated. Check out Cognet and Chambriard.

$60-120 but I have no problem looking knives that are out of my price range right now. That's what the future is for. :D

First and foremost, I recommend the Recon 1 by Cold Steel. It is perhaps the quintessential tactical folder.

If you want a different sort of modern look, here's the new Code 4, which I have in spear point.

Both are awesome folders for different purposes and with different looks, both super strong, super sharp, super comfortable, super fun and well within your price range.

2nd on the Code 4. Definitely a sleeper, hopefully it catches on. Smooth, strong, light, comfortable and great looking!

What I've seen isn't really modern but I also like understated. I like a lot of what I've seen so far. Thanks!

No problem. Maybe if you define what "modern" means to you, we could throw more ideas out there.

Does "modern" mean one handed opening/tactical?

Ahhh, a little clarification probably would be better. Sorry.

Modern, to me, is clean, minimalist, understated, not classic, not traditional, sort of "futuristic" all in one. I put futuristic in quotes because that word can cause a lot of confusion or throw off the idea of modern. I'm also not a fan of it because what we have really considered futuristic is starting to actually be all around us. It's not as futuristic anymore. Also, neutral tones, nothing too fancy. Just real clean new looking knives.

Honestly, the Boker Kwaiken is exactly what I mean. If a few of the flaws it comes with are fixed. I will buy a few of them.

Hi minimalist -

I think the Leek is what comes to mind when I try to visualize what you are talking about. It is clean, and minimalist, but with great usability.

(the one above is a dlc user blem from Kershawguy that I bought and then gave to a friend...seems like I give away all of my leeks....)

Also, the AG Russell Acies 2 is very simple, clean, but high quality - it is a scaled down version of my full sized Acies (no longer in production..)

And finally, another of my favorites for many of the reasons you state in this thread request, is the Kershaw Speedform. It is elegant, but simple, with high tech and modern looks without being overstyled.

Good luck - I hope some of these give you some new ideas -

The Kershaw Cryo is hard to beat for the money.

I was also about to mention the Speedform, one of my favorite knives. I also love my Gayle Bradley Air.

I know you. lol

Definitely love the Speedform. I've been looking into that. The name has me a little confused. It's not assisted or automatic right? My quick research last night didn't show anything and I'm not about to bring one into the state I'm in.

That AG Russell is real nice too!

It is not assisted. It was limited and you only have the aftermarket to find one.

They are awesome though.

The leek is assisted, so maybe not right for you.

THe Acies 2 - it might just be in your ballpark - if you like ZDP 189.

Jason's books are open. This one cost me $400. Less than a large Sebenza. Fit and finish rivals CRK as well.

Here's a video I made of the flippage...

I definitely don't have money for that right now but I've added it to my Amazon wishlist full of knives I want. Stupidly, I haven't spent much time looking at custom knives. I'll have to get on that.
