I was just surfing Blade HQ and applying some filters when I came across some knives that weren't on my radar. Lately I've been on a lightweight kick. (specifically ultra lightweight <=2.0oz) I also prefer my blades to be at least 3" in length so I applied these filters and found the following knives. (see PDF below)

While I was aware of some of these knives a few are new to me. The Kershaw Hawk is just 2oz and less than $20 so I will for sure be trying one of these guys. I have a Boker Urban Trapper and enjoy it but I did knot know about the Brad Zinker Model R Trapper (3.375" blade @ 1.05oz!) I'm not sure how much these go for since they're OOS but they're now on my list. I've also been eyeing the Spydero Des Horn and may pull the trigger at some point. I'm not crazy about the design on the CRKT Eros Ti but may try it.

So do any of you own any of these ultra lightweight modern folders or looking to try any?

I like larger folders that are a bit heavier, so my featherweight is a Spyderco Pacific Salt. Nearly 4" of blade in a 3oz package is pretty darn good.

Yes I still consider knives in the 2 to 3.5oz range very very light but when you increase the search criteria from 2oz to even just 2.5oz it explodes lol. A little easier to discuss this smaller list.

Try an Ontario Rat II. Not sure of the weight, maybe a tad bit heavier than 2 oz., but a fine user. I'd remove the pocket clip for pocket carry.

Salt knives are what appeal to me in this category. I generally prefer larger than 3.5" blade length and I don't mind some weight.

Yes I have one, great knife but 2.75oz.

Please note I have nothing against heavier knives, I have many 5+oz knives, it's just a much smaller category for discussion when you limit it so drastically.

Boker Urban tracker meets the requirements
I've never seen that model?

Benchmade 530 with a deep carry clip. Done.;):D:cool: 1.8 ounces by my scale...

Also, I don't know where they got the weight for the blackhawk bewharned but it has full steel liners; it's more like 4 ounces plus. I'll weigh mine later...

Good call. Forgot about that one. Not my cup of tea but fits the bill.

You know, when I read G-10 I thought how in the heck is this thing that light? Thanks for the coming clarification.

I own an Al Mar Falcon Ultralight and you can almost forget you're carrying a knife.

I prefer the Benchmade 531 over the 530. It's a little heavier due to the handles being G10, but the high flat blade grind is better in my opinion.

Agreed, just 0.22oz heavier and likewise I prefer the blade shape to the spear point 530.

I've carried a CRKT Eros 3" Titanium for about three years now when exercising. It's so light and capable. Pretty resistant to corrosion too. Very secure clip and all of 1.59 ounces.

I measured the be wharned I have, it comes in at 4.2 ounces fwiw...:D

Still a great knife but way over the weight limit LOL.

My Des Horn model 450 with nitriobe blade comes in at an ounce. I love it as it disappears in my pocket, always ready when I need it.
