Hey there everybody! Here’s a new tanto I’ve finally finished. It could be considered an Aikuchi I suppose since it’s guardless. But I just can’t abide a smooth transition from under the handle to the edge, seems dangerous, so I added the “guardy” nubs!

Steel is NitroV with professional HT at 60/61, 1/8” x 1 1/4” at the nubs and the blade height is 15/16” at the ricasso and 1" at the belly. Balances at the front pin.

Hand sanded to 1200 grit for a fine satin finish. The edge was about .012” before sharpening. There’s some filework on the spine and the swedge flairs at the tip for extra strength.

Dimensions: 12 11/16” OAL, Tip to Scales 7 5/8”

The handle is Ironwood, heartwood on the ends and sapwood in the middle with 3/16” stainless pins, blue and orange G10 liners. It’s finished to 1200 grit, oiled and waxed.

The sheath says “Peace from Strength” in Kanji according to a few translators I checked.
