So deleting the spey blade out? Not sure how fitting up would go, but getting that sliver of metal you mention to the right size that it doesn’t lift or sink the spring would be interesting. Hammering or pressing out the pin isn’t too difficult though.Any one have an idea of how hard the nickel silver pins are? This has been floating in my head for sometime as I look upon my 81 boss bull keeper. The example I purchased unfortunately has blade rub and is terribly off center. On top of that, flexing the blades sort of dislodged the pins. Reaching out to gec, i was quoted a $70 rebuild fee. I was wondering about a very very lazy blade delete by slowly pushing out the pin on the spey side and perhaps putting a sliver of metal back in its place. Any thoughts on this project?

If I'm understanding things correctly, you could just grind the "blade" portion off of the spey and leave just the tang in place...you are right! i didnt think about thatthats exactly why i dont do much serious modding and leave it in capable hands like yours! the simplest thing is just pushing the pin out and take the spey out and just hammering it back

I see one advantage to removing the punch from that knife (besides making the owner happy, of course) You now have the parts to add a punch to a single bladed 86. (like maybe my '21 Forum Knife)This one is far from done (pivot needs finishing and then everything needs cleaned up) but I’m happy to finally have gotten some garage time. It’s been about 9 billion degrees in there over the summer and today it was finally almost bearable.
Had another buddy asked me to delete the punch off this orange delrin 86, making it into a single blade clip point knife. I know how you all feel about this, but he’s excited about the mod.
I willll admit the heat in the garage was just a bit of an excuse to put this one off as I was kind of nervous to peen the pins back over since I don’t have a pin-spinning tool. Getting the pins domed just right on jigged covers is not easy for me. However, I thought up a bit of a solution and it came out pretty decently.
