How are you guys "texturing" your handles...and does it affect the ingegrity (stregth) of the handles?

that rc3 with the picture of the map of Peru looks cool...

My wife and I are originally from there... her uncle runs survival classes in the jungle (so she tells me) and she said she could hook me up for one of those classes... it might be cool... :D who wants to come with me? :D :D :D :D

This one was stripped, handles were textured, the pommel was neutered and I made a kydex sheath for it.

This one belongs to nc527 nowadays.

That knife is still one of my favorites shotgunner11. Almost looks the same today, cept with more scratches on the blade. Never let me down, never had a speck of rust. Thanks for the trade, even thought it was a while back.

There are some really nice modified knives in here..I especially like this one^

Very nice handle Razorsharp1986! Is the red stuff grip tape..?

Tnx stoffi!!!
The red tape is reflective tape. So if I drop it in the dark, I can easily find it, shining my light on it. Great feature, especially since I tend to lose small knives like that :p

Anyone have any experience with RIT and dying the micarta scales? I've seen people do interesting things with g10 and RIT, anyone try with micarta?

i was going to use rit but couldn't wait so used a black sharpie instead. micarta is very porous and soaked up the sharpie ink like a sponge so rit would work perfectly fine. however, i've used black rit extensively on white socks. anything porous will work with rit.

buy the liquid version for ease of use and play with pieces of wood and stuff if you're nervous.

see also this bk2 micarta post:
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=731004

rit also works with some plastics - pmag magazine for the ar-15 in this case:
http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=17&t=484089

i say some plastics because i tried dying the rc-3 sheath's brown belt clip black earlier tonight and it didn't work at all. the molecular structure on the particular type of plastic they used is very tight for the rit to fail penetrating it...hope this helps :D

first and probably only mod i'll do to my esee knives - colored the scales black.

This one has quite a hectic life. I just modded it, and In a couple days Ill post pics. Lemme just say you guys will LOVE it.

I rebeveled the edge, removed the finish off the blade & added a patinia. I then removed the paracord and added the new factory micarta scales (which I love by the way).

Anyone have a picture of stripped RC-3 with the orange g10 handles? I see lots of stripped black and tan . . . . I thinking of stripping mine and wanted to see what it looks like first:p

i did this with a drum sander on a jewelers power handpiece.

dosn't affect the stregth of the micarta
