Modifying Large Sebenza 21 CGG - Tips Needed

That is some great intel right there! Thank your, sir. Much obliged.

(That glass bead finish actually looks mighty fine as well, might have another word with him to find out what the options are on that machine)
If you do it yourself (with a hand held gun) you can buy any media you want. The glass bead finish will show trails less than the original. And I too appreciate the intel on what to use for a CRK finish. As I said, you can blast them back to "clean" any time you want.

Hi all,

I wanted to give you a quick update on what I ended up doing to the Sebenza.

In the end it turned out that my friend wasn't able to help me out after all, so I eventually sent it to Longfield Knives for a simple glass bead blasting treatment. Here is the result;

While the scales are still relatively dark gray, they have now become slightly lighter and more reflective which gives them a more metallic appearance compared to the fully matte finish on the original scales (see photo for comparison to original Sebenza scales on my small 21). This makes the milled bars blend in more with the rest, which is exactly what I was looking for. Speaking of the bars, they no longer jump off the scales but seem to sort of change finish depending on how the light catches them; they can either be visibly reflective, or almost completely blend into the scales. This I really like a lot.

In the end I must say that I'm extremely pleased with the end result and think that this relatively small change has made a world of difference to the knife overall. A tremendous improvement, in my opinion. See for yourself:

What do you think?

Finally, I'd like to thank you all, once again, for all the helpful tips and information you provided me with. I now have a beautiful knife that I can proudly carry for many years to come and that wouldn't have been possible without your help ;)
