I had a poor experience with buying a knife from him. He took a long time to ship. Asked me if I wanted a lanyard that was already promised in the for sale thread. He "forgot" the lanyard. Made excuses. None of this stuff was egregious enough for a thread here or poor feedback. Heck, I didn't even need the lanyard. I can make a better one anyway. It was the principal of the fact that is was promised in the for sale thread, I had to haggle to get it, and he still never sent it. Another thing that was odd was the knife was fully disclosed to have some staining on the tip of the blade. No problem there. When I got it there was a lot of it and it was quite dark. Still no issue as it was disclosed. It only took me 5 minutes with some polish to remover. Wouldn't a great knife pimper have done this himself? Nothing really wrong with this, it just sat funny with me.

I wouldn't deal with him again.

To the OP, I hope you get your knife back. Is he aware of this thread?

I sent him a PM with a link to this thread yesterday.
I had some personal interest in the outcome as I stated above.
 
I certainly hope so, as he currently has my 0566! He called me this weekend and we spoke about how he was going to customize it and everything, told me that he was busy with other orders and he's getting to mine next. He promises a 4 week turn over (max) so I'm hoping we stick to that. I don't mind waiting for a good service, I just hope he's doing everything that we talked about.

All in all, my experience so far is that he may not be the best with communication, but he is honest. I say you're most definitely getting your knife back.

I have had poor dealings with him myself.
traded for a glow scale that did not fit.
sent it back (i paid shipping) and finally got one that fit.
It didnt happen quickly.

Attempted to trade a knife for some handle material he had.
Haggled back and forth on the material.
It changed from what he offered on his post immediately.
Never got there, I backed out of the deal and he thought it prudent to call me a bad name.

I think he is a kid trying to play knife games.
Not a business man.
At all.

I wouldn't send him a piece of chewing gum, not to mention a knife I value.
He can reply to text, but said something about no email access.

I would call him and get your answer.

I hoped I would never be in one of these threads. But I did it to myself. In return I will take care of it immediately to get the show back on the road. I apologize if I ramble a bit, I am exhausted.

Why all the negative. This is the only knife from that time period that I have. I have perfect feedback, host give aways, pass arounds and started on this site to learn and read. Why in the world would I keep his knife even if he told me to keep it, which he did. Sure I am more than late. But regardless.

Hey there weasel3, I wish you contacted my prior to making the thread or even the day of. I just noticed this from one of the moderators, I have not been on all that much lately..
I apologize I did not get back to you sooner. I never ignored a single message from anyone for more than 24 hours.
I will have your knife shipped out to you on Friday with tracking and confirmation. I understand your concern, but do not be any longer, you are all set.
I had alot of late projects this year, but it will not happen again. I have been here and did not get a PM from you since we last spoke. I am sorry that I did not speak to you sooner. Our situation was a bit unique as you know. You did not request to even have the work done for the first few months, and just to make a template for myself when I got a chance. Then it molded into something else entirely. This was not just a job like any other. I did not ask you to pay for it either which you chose to finally in august. Which means alot. Essentially a bunch of favors turned into this. Which will be over with on friday when your knife is on its way.


For certain other folks in this thread, I will not bother to address it. This place can certainly get hostile. This is a negative thread so things, no matter how minor will pop up. Obviously I have a few customer that I now realize were impossible to please. But these things happen when you work for yourself even if just a hobby.
If it were positive it would have the dozens of friends I have made saying the positive and I know that. Even my signature has my work page which pretty much sums of all of my jobs I have done here. That was before I started to run out of time at work.
Perhaps I left some polish on blade or a burr here and there, it happens.
I enjoy this but my mind is else where at times, mostly concentrating on my kids and wife and I get overwhelmed.
Yours included will be shipped out on friday with a tracking number.
I cannot blame anything besides myself.

Please accept my apology and that goes for all of my late shipments. I really had no time to ship for weeks on end. Often comes with 12 hour work days in the middle of nowhere quite often and an hour commute.
I will send you a PM on friday with tracking and insurance.

This is why I never ask for a payment up front unless it is for material. I am happy to know that besides this knife. Nobody has money invested in me, and I always prefer to do the work and show pictures before payment. With the exception of simple framelock scales.

It's been 8 months. You did him a favour by letting him
Use your Southard as a mule, and he hasn't answered any PM's or emails from you in months....
I am starting to lean towards Knifein's very simple post, and my earlier optimism is leaving me.

It was over a month before we began the southard Bushcraft project. And alot of communication on ideas from there on. In between and mainly since august we had little to no contact since our final discussion. There was absolutely no email or PM that I did not reply to or miss. Nor did I ever use his knife to make a template as I explained to him a few months in before finishing most of his project. I had been waiting to complete it but slipped and did not contact him. That said, Since our last discussion regarding what was remaining in the project. Weasel did not send me a single message until this thread was made.

I wish I had a perfect record.
I have probably done around 200 pimp jobs by now. 97% were of the highest quality and shipped out on time or sooner. About 6 of those jobs including yours was either shipped to late, or I screwed up on quality in some area. But always offered to fix it free of charge.
It will not be at your expense or any one elses.
You were very kind in helping me when I was still learning as well.
Please PM me your phone number so I can call you, or a PM is fine.
I remember a little less than two months ago when I PMed you and apologized, you told me to keep the knife and you were cutting your loses with all the bad experiences you have had.
I said I would never keep it and I just wanted to finish in and send it out. I did not reply in a timely manner.

That is about the best I can do for communication lol. You are the only current job I have since shipping out my last.
Nothing else besides a few things on the back burner such as weasel which is completed and I was waiting on some special screws I ordered to finish his knife.. I think I sent you the proper link for blade finish options, texted you as well.

EdgeMaster, this thread is here for Weasel. I chose not to deal with you because you are pushy. I also took care of your scale replacement promptly when you purchased it months ago.. As soon as it came back I examined it to see what mistake I had made and got a new one out to you shortly after. You payed to send it back to me, because you offered to first class it for a dollar and change.
Regarding the trade, I actually sent you a message saying that since you will not accept a phone call even after sending pictures for our trade I asked you to please not bother as it was taking up too much time with out talking.
Three days later you send a text and say the same thing in a very rude fashion. I think it better we did not make a trade at this point, for both of us considering you seem to twist the truth and then send a corny message stating you want to teach me a thing or two with your fists and that I need to find a better job since I dont have much time to waste?

Up until this point you were very happy with the scale and working with me. Then this trade drama comes along and here you go making it personal.

So sorry that this is the op's fault ??? truth in numbers, joined 7-12-13 and has 1376 total post. Including many started within the last month offering items for sale, or trade. I don't see how any of this is the op's error. I have attempted to do business before at this site, no problem but I can tell you I located another member who does it right 100% of the time and his follow up is unmatched . You will receive photos of the work in progress and tracking information once shipped. Sure folks make errors, but saying time is the issue while posting almost 3 post daily seems a stretch. And after 8 months of borrowing a knife, tough to call out the op as the bad guy, you think? If you wish to avoid these issues, shop around, other options exist and they have the time to answer your calls, emails and pm's.
 
Oh gosh, Lets not start picking things apart. For the record I did not call him a bad guy or anything close to it. Can I not apologize to him for not seeing this for two days, excuse me. There is far more to our story than a simple knife job. I am doing my part to take care of this immediate. Not like I am supposed to be happy about it. Just ashamed and ready to take care of it. Posts like this are the reason I like to avoid it.

I have spoken to Eric easily a dozen or two times.
I will wait for him to contact me so he can have his knife. I have gone above and beyond for many but screwed up as well.
I am happy you have someone to go to for your future knife work. I too take pictures and call my customers regularly in most cases. Relax a bit. I do this for fun and learn along the way, taking care of my mistakes. What I enjoy goes far beyond this forum and numbers. This will be taken care of immediately like I said.

Ok. Thanks. I got your message. Weasel your knife is just about all set. It will go out around 1 PM Friday.

Alright, we can cut this keyboard warrior behavior out. We aren't children. It's obvious there is more then we know between BellaBlades and edgemaster. We'll leave that be and they should handle the rest in a more private manner. The original issue has been handled. There is no need to continue to insult for absolutely no reason, especially online while ganging up on someone. I highly suggest this thread be closed as long as the OP is satisfied.

And for the record, BellaBlades has been working in a very dedicated fashion with me, and everyone is human. He may have made a mistake or two but it isn't his norm. I think he has handled this as well as anyone could and we should just continue on from here.

Everyone , who is everyone. I would be better off not looking at the computer screen while working in the shop. There is only weasel . Whom by the way I have an OK relationship with. We always have been very civil and polite. Everyone is taken care of or has a knife on the way. Im not behind anymore, this is one knife.
Who are you and what is wrong with you. I have dozens of members I speak to regularly about work. After this week I have a few dozen quotes to jump on once Weasel has his knife shipped.
Who are you, I have not done work for you or ever heard of you.
I think I have been pretty relaxed, its not that hard to get along.


Weasel meant to close the thread but has not been on since we last spoke.
