Hello all,
My mom is 70 as of this January. She has had some difficulty with what they thought was a kidney stone. They never found the stone, but some scar tissue in her ureter which may have been evident of a passed stone. Well, Saturday morning apparantly she doubled over in pain, and dad called 911. Her kidneys were shutting down due to a blood clot in her renal artery. I did not find out til today around 2 PM. I visited her tonight and she was in good spirits on morphine and something else. They were giving her dialysis as I visited. She is strong in spirit. I could hear her pleading with the nurse, "My son drove all the way from Simi Valley, can he come in and see me please even though I am getting dialysis?" I felt better once I heard her voice. After shift change, and they got her hooked up on the machine, they let me in. We talked about dad and how he was handling it, (he went home about an hr. before I got there). Also, mom is worried about grandma, who is 94 and doing ok. LOL. Mom is healthy if she is worrying about others.
I am sure this is life changing for her, not sure about any permanent damage to the kidneys, but this can not be good. I am pretty ignorant as to what they are going to do, and the Dr. was not going to tell me tonight. I am in prayer right now.
Apparently,
a clot in the renal artery is hard to spot til damage is done. It seems cigarette smoking is a cause of this, and she is a life long smoker who cannot quit.
So please when you have a quiet moment, lift my mom up in prayer. Her name is Carolyn.
Thank you all and God bless.
