I think we need a place to admit to our impulsive decisions.

My name is Comeuppance, and I'm awful at self-control when it comes to knives.

KniveJournal entry, 3/29/16:

I had a moment of weakness today.

Actually, I had several consecutive moments of weakness.

Today, I purchased:

Böker Plus Gnome (micarta / Kydex / 440c)
SOG Snarl
CRKT Dragon (black / satin)
Benchmade Crooked River (wood handle)
Three Tek-Loks

I almost bought a Böker Plus Rhino and MA-2 as well. I also almost bought a CRKT minimalist, SPEW, and Obake. I had to contact my sponsor and she talked me down. "They're so cheap!", I said. "They're not cheap when you buy seven at a time.", she rightly stated.

It's too late now, though! They're already shipped! And they're so cheap that selling or trading them would just be silly! I mean, I guess the crooked river could go, but... Wood scales! Clip point! Metallic orange pivot! Bolster! 4" blade! Come on! It's like they made it just for me! Jerks.

At least I stopped buying $120 slipjoints every day. Baby steps.

Not quite there yet. Got a death grip on the last sliver of discipline I have left, but the thumb has slipped off. Haha. However, whenever I go anywhere I'm thinking about a route that takes me past somewhere that sells knives. "Gravity" working on those last 4 fingers. See you soon

The Crooked River is one hell of a looker.

My recent impulse was all Cold Steel. Had some money in the old Paypal account, saw a screaming deal on a Talwar and pulled the trigger. But while I was doing it I noticed they had a damn good price on the AK-47 as well, so I figured what the hell and tossed that in the cart as well.

Welp, I think the Talwar is gonna be catch-and-release (anyone wanna buy a LNIB OD green 4" XHP Talwar?), but the AK-47 turned out to be one hell of a nice knife. Don't let the tacticool looks fool you, that thing is a utility beast. It's splitting time with my Manix 2 XL, and the XL ruled my pocket for more than a year.

SHUT UP I HAVE FIVE ALREADY

STOP ENABLING ME

Seriously, they're really nice for how ridiculously inexpensive they are. I bought two Dog Bone Jacks just for the sheaths, but the knives are nice too, and the whistle has a really nice tone.

This is a well timed thread.....
bought a Recon 1,
a CRKT swindle,
a ZT 0350,
and a Lionsteel tre G10. All today.

Every knife I ever bought was an impulse buy. Oh, I start out doing research and comparing everything. But as soon as I'm in the same room with a knife...Boom.

I feel your pain brother, in the past 2 weeks I've acquired 24 knives, have 1 on pre-order, and there's at least 3 that I plan on buying as soon as I can get back to the knife shop.

Yeah, I buy in sprees, too. The key is to space them out a bit! A few knives in a few weeks isn't so bad if you're doing in once every few months..

I'm good with controlling knife purchases, however, there are other things. My car needs a suspension refresh, but I need a CZ 75 B and 590A1.

Why would you start this thread when I've just turned myself in to rehab? :p

Well I only used to buy like two knives a year before finding this Bladeforums place, now its hard to resist..every paycheck. I've never gone on a 20 knife binge though.

I (of all people) purchased a Strider yesterday. I understand.

I thought I was finished collecting with all the Spyderco's BM CR etc.etc.
A few weeks back the wife and I were just window shopping, and walked into this "we have everything store"
She was looking at tea cups in the front,I strolled to the back and WOW! There were three walls of Victorinox knives under glass with spot lights on them.
I never really thought about these as collectors, they are actually a pretty decent knife..with a flurry of different sizes and models.
Sooo over the past 3 or so weeks I now own 9 of them..boy o boy I'm a sick puppy. :p

in 24 hours....

Aranyik E-Toh
Aranyik E-Nep
Aranyik Extended Latin Machete
Aranyik Hybrid Machete 3.5 inch belly
Himalayan Imports Farmcata

all big wood handled ethnic choppers... to go with my 12 or so Condor choppers, 7 or so HI Kukris, dozen or so Beckers, etc etc.... I own more weight worth of choppers than I do wood......./sigh

I have been buying about three knives a month for the last eight months. For me, that's binging. Fortunately most of them have been Rough Riders, Moras and Marttiinis, so I can still make my mortgage payments. What is troubling is that I have doubled up on some Rough Riders. I have always had multiples of SAKs and Opinels, but that was because I was stashing them on multiple motorcycles. But these Rough Riders are such pretty, shiny things, and so cheap. It's like eating popcorn.

Hi I'm STAINLESS and I have an Emerson addiction. I have spent around $1000 on Emerson knives, customizations, and knife parts since the first of the year. Also none of you know my wife right, because otherwise I have no clue what any of you are talking about. I don't even know how I got to this horrible forum of spendthrifts[emoji2].

Yeah...8 knives in the past week and 2 on pre-order...and the $300 in upgrades(scales & thumbdisks)
