When your latest obsession is custom division shirogorovs, you quickly learn how to live with hating yourself.

Well..................... about a month ago I bought a Surefire knife (a bit spendy) , then a week or so ago I was in a shop with a buddy and bought 4 slip joints . I thought I was done for a while , but then a couple of days ago I bought a ZT 0561 and a Kershaw Cryo G-10 BW to keep it company . So I "thought" I had a problem .

Then I saw this !

"Ive had quite a few moments of weakness the last 60 days....

ZT 0566bwcf
ZT 0560bw
ZT 0562
ZT 0562cf
ZT 0350cf
ZT 0350cfM390
ZT 0450cf
ZT 0801
Becker BK7
Becker BK13 Remora
Buck 110 from 1988. "

WOOHOO !!! Now I'm shopping for another ZT :D

It's always great to have support when you need it ;)

My whole existence here has been one moment of weakness after another.

My biggest problem is finding the next "the one" and relentlessly obsessing/lurking/refreshing, then I sell a few older "the ones" to afford the new one, then I overpay and see one for sale within 24 hours for a much better deal, then later I miss the older ones I sold to afford the newer one so I buy them again....

It's really sad and frustrating to type that out...

I buy mostly slipjoints they pile up and I give them away then I buy replacements and the cycle starts over. I believe my wife is right I have lost my mind. Last year I bought over 100 knives I bought 25 Buck 110's from a dealer going out of business and gave them away. As a matter of fact Comeuppance I gave you one of them. I then decided to have Glennbad mod one for me with stag covers and had to buy a new one to send to him. This is more than a hobby it's an addiction.

I totally understand...all of these except for the two upper Barkies were purchased within the last three weeks. I have a Runt and another awesome looking JoshRG on the way also.

I once had a lot of knives, didn't think of them as a collection, just a bunch of knives. Case's, Buck's, Old Timers and Schrades as well as KaBar, and other brands. I was partial to barlows and bowies, never really thought of the why, just liked the way a barlow fit my hand and the sleekness of a bowie blade was such that I knew if I carried one all the time I'd be ready to give any attacker a labotomy. I got rid of them, all but one, My SAK. Of course I had that stretch where i'd lose my SAK every year or year and a half, gave me an opputunity to check out differint. models.
I guess if you really want to kill your addiction just give your heart to Vic, she's all the knife you need. At least until you need a Buck 110, that Spitfire seems nice and oh that other SAK has a magnifying glass, gotta have it. So it starts again.

I ended up giving it to a burgeoning knife knut! I've already had to touch up the edge on it a couple times and he carries and uses it every day.

I just bought a Timberline/Neely Emerson Specwar. Found one for $200. Wanted one since I was a teenager.

Collecting fixed blades is cheaper than folders. :D

Right? I'm going to have something like TEN by the end of April, but will have only spent about $500. Just TRY getting ten folders I would be interested in at that price point!

I just bought a BD1 Rajah II. And I don't know why I never bought 1 sooner. This thing will out chop a good number of fixed blades that fancy themselves as choppers. I did some chopping with it, and if you choke low, and keep it within the Kukri sweet spot, this thing bites hard and deep.

Liar. :grumpy:

I've got it BAD...
One Busse blade and two swords so far this year, and I currently have eight more on order.

It ain't always cheaper! ;) --- :D

I totally understand the behavior! Around Christmas, I picked up a ZT0566CF-M390, ZT0160, and a Kershaw/Emerson Auto Commander. I don't feel bad about the binge, since all three were killer deals. Since then, I have been selling more than buying, in preparation for the next ZT0392 sale (yes, I did score a 0392BLKGRN today, woot!), and for the purchase of some of the 2016 ZTs. The slim-ness of the knife budget is helping to control the compulsion, but it will never eliminate it!
