I have to tell everyone I am SICK of the bull$hit on this forum.

If you have to whine and complain for 5 pages after getting ripped off for $15 you shouldnt be trading via the internet.

EVERYONE WANTS A GOOD DEAL!!!! That includes ME!!
It also includes the guy on the other end.
MANY people want a fantastic deal. They are willing to fudge a little on their side to get it. Just deal with the guys that you KNOW are up front.....or when you lose $5 or $10 (or heaven forbid even MORE!!!!!) Chalk it up to experience and MOVE ON!!

Come on folks.....this is LIFE!!!!

NO ONE EVER SAID IT WAS GOING TO BE FAIR!
Use your brain, thats what GOD gave it to you for.
Your friendly advice counselor, Tom Mayo. :) :) :)

Did you hear that they found out that there are only a limited number of smilies available?    Maybe we should take up a collection for Mr. Mayo.

Just be Honest in ALL your dealings. It doesn't get any simpler than that

I agree - Buying sight unseen has some drawbacks. People also have different levels of acceptability. You have to be ready to accept some dissappointment. rr

First thing Mayo ever wrote that I agreed with. :) :) :) :) :) :)
I just read a thread where two people were arguing about which knife was worth $30 more than the other. It's the freakin' Jerry Springer show. Don't stop though, it's mildly entertaining.

I figure that if you are swapping knives over monetary value, your missing it in the first place. It should be about getting a knife that you want for whatever reason you appreciate it for. It you are swapping for knives to make money, go to the flea market and sell fifty cent chinese models for $5. Leave this place for folks that just enjoy blades. I just did a swap with a friend in Australia for a knife that was worth less than the one I sent. On top of that, the shipping cost about a third of my knife's cost. SO FRIGGIN WHAT. He had a knife that I've been wanting and is a good guy. He'll most likely do me the favor on our next venture into trading.
The point is, it was the knife that I wanted.
This is the "Golden Age of Knives" right now. Prices can be ludicrous to me, but just fine to someone else. It's all in how you look at something and the value that you place upon it. If the value you give something and the value another person gives it don't match up, don't do a trade. It as easy as that.

If the only thing involved is that one person is unhappy that the knife they got was worth a few dollars less than the one they traded away, then I agree that that is a pretty stupid reason to complain. If on the other hand the complaint is that the knife being complained about was misrepresented, then I think they have good reason to bring it to our attention. I also want to know about people that will mislead others when dealing with them. It gives me a heads up on folks I will choose not to do business with.

That's my take on things anyway.

Edited to remove a letter that did not belong.

When I see a member calling somebody bad and ugly because they don't answer email for a few days I think that's pretty unreasonable. I see complaints about dealers that I consider very unreasonable -- the buyer assumed his order would arrive in a couple of days and it didn't? Welcome to the real world where no dealer always has everything in stock. Etc. But ethical issues are not dependant on how much money is involved. If a seller is unethical who cares how much money he cheated somebody out of this time? Even if money is all you care about, a guy who cheats somebody out of thirty dollars this time is likely to cheat the next guy out of three hundred, or whatever he can get.

Jesus Tom, you selfish bastid! Is this why you won't sell me one of your knives for $xx's...........I'M THE ONE THAT'S SUPPOSED TO GET THE 'GOOD DEAL' damn it!

ROFLMFAO ;) :D

How do you really feel?!?:p

So if another member of BF screws you out of less than $50.00, that is an "acceptable loss".
How do us poor folk compete with you rich folk? Taking a pummeling for $50.00 hurts me alot more than it might hurt others, and when it's done INTENTIONALLY, I do not see how posting that is whinning.

I certainly can see the point of not bitching when it's a trade and the difference works out to be lop-sided as long as both parties are happy, I traded a $300 laser that mounts onto the front rail of an H&K for a knife worth 1/3 the value because I wanted the knife, did not have the cash and did not need the Laser. I call that a "fair Deal". But when two parties enter into a trade/sale and one party intentionally porks the other, even for $50.00, it is WRONG:(

Tom, sometimes it is a matter of principle not money. As an example, I'm now in litigation against Wells Fargo and Co. because they bounced a money order they issued. It's only $120 and the litigation will cost more than that. But I think banks and other companies shouldn't issue rubber money orders.
And when they bounce them they should then make good on them. They probably won't change their ways but I have to try. Take care.

Hey Tom, the bullsh$t is the exact reason that the GB&U forum was needed. Before GB&U, the bullsh$t was everywhere. Now, it usually stays in one section. Did I just say that? I am glad we have some good plumbers around this joint...bullsh$t leak.

On another note, it is the dang principle of the matter. Not all of us have the good fortune of playing with the hula girls. Shoot far, all I get to play with are the lot lizards. And if I am lucky enough to get a trip to Laredo, TX, a senorita or two around Boy's Town in Nuevo Laredo. Now that mess is a trip with all the monkey and donkey shows. I never believed it to I saw it with my own eyes. Big D1
