Curiosity for those folks who are wearing formal business attire, like dress suits and dresses and live in a place where carrying a knife is not the norm, what are you guys EDC'ing?

I live in tri-state NYC and I carry anything from a GEC72 to a Northwoods fruit knife or Case mini trapper. I'm thinking of switching this up to an Alox Cadet as I'm about to be made an offer at an ultra conservative workplace that is ultra corporate with over 200,000 employees. I'm unsure if carrying a knife in its purest form would be considered odd. I'm thinking a SAK is almost universally accepted.

Do you work in some corporate environment in a city, what are you EDC'ing? The Alox is the way to go right?

I might suggest this one:
Swiss Army 53401 3-Inch Executive Swiss Army Knife
I think that the scissors is an option that you will use quite often.
Keep the knife "thin" and unobtrusive until you find out that other reasonable "humans" also work there.

I think the Alox Cadet is a stellar choice. I have two. I carry these in places where knives are frowned upon without issue. Otherwise, I carry a Chaparral, Dragonfly, or Manbug in such places. I prefer the G10 models.

Attire is not quite as important as the company policies. Read up on those quietly (rather than asking around) when you get there.

I work at a major bank and I've found that the Boker Plus Urban Trapper (the cocobolo version) makes a great little classy EDC knife. I've also noticed that the color of the knife makes a fair bit of difference in an office. I avoid black (particularly black blades) at all costs. The more "cheerful" or bright color the better, but not something that sticks out like a sore thumb (blaze orange). As with any knife in any setting, responsible use and deployment are by far the most important things to consider when carrying a knife.

I rotate between a SAK, an Opinel #8, and an Ontario Rat2 (deep in the pocket; unclipped so that it goes unnoticed).

All good points! I really like that Executive, I wonder if it comes in Alox, I have a sordid history with regular SAK's in that the covers always pop off at some point during ownership of it!

I carry an Alox Mini Champ and Alox Cadet, both silver. Mini Champ on the key ring, Cadet loose in my right front pocket of my slacks. I rarely need either of them at my corporate desk job. Old habit from when I used to need tools once in a while at work.

I have to vote for the Cadet also. If you want toothpick & tweezers, look at the Recruit model. The non Alox version of the Cadet.

My normal carry is an old style Kershaw Zing as my EDC but I recently used a Cadet for a whole month. It was perfect. When I am at work, I try not to use a knife in front of patients and the doctors don't care so my real concern is some of the staff. Nobody even thought about batting an eye anytime the Cadet was used. Add a Gerber EAB to the mix if you want a utility blade and you are set.

If you're looking for Alox or anodized SAK models, I would check out swiss bianco.

I don't wear a suit to work, but last few weddings I went to in dress pants, I carried this in a slip sheath.
Small Sebenza Gold Leaf

My other options would be a small lightweight modern, or a slip joint.

BladeCommander you live in Texas brother! I love those EDC's but I don't think they will fly at where I'm going, lol. = )

In clothes I carry a Pro-tech Dark Angel. Clips so nicely into a jacket breast pocket. Or in a Chris Reeve slipcase for slacks pocket. A very discreet auto.

Optional for dress would be my Emerson micro-Commander sans clip.

Where the crowd is mostly sane and stable, I'll fall back on a conservative Sebenza.

I carry my Bucks 503 or 501 classic in the pocket. small and they don't offend anyone. In my pack under my desk i have a 3.5" 511 tactical folder just in case.

I like the Cadet, Bantam, or money clip from victorinox - scissors are clutch.

I live in the big city and work in a big office. Today I was carrying my Manix 2 XL! (S90V/CF version) I don't carry anything smaller than a Spyderco PM2.

It is just incredible to me to read these stories and hear what might be objectionable in some locations. We are talking about human beings in a free country right? Well given the restrictive rules that you have to live under, I would think that a small slipjoint would be accepted anywhere. I can't imagine anyone objecting to a blade less than 2" long in a knife that looks very traditional. A Swiss Army Knife of similar size should be acceptable but would be a little more noticeable in red. A Swiss Army Knife might be even more acceptable if it had a few other tools in it that a person like you could be expected to use in a normal day.

My suit and tie combo is a Benchmade 940-1 and a Case pen knife with black jetstone and mother of pearl inlay

It really is awful but that's how NYC is. I'm not one to rock the boat. And by and large the laws are to protect citizens. There are so many violent criminals and crazies in NYC it might even be for the best.

I'd edc all kinds of bigger knives if I could but I can't so I'm not going to scream to the moon about it, most of the time I'm just cutting a pork chop for lunch, kinda begs the question why I'm eating a pork chop lunch but I digress. Lol.
