Claims a USPS money order was sent on 1/20/2010, then 1/21/2010, and a final confirmation that it was mailed 1/22/2010. I never received payment for the knife.

The post office does lose mail on occasion, however another post by a BFer states the same set of circumstances happened to him - Tony sent a money order and seller never received it !!

The other sellers recap of some of his communications with Tony...

Tony,
Could you please PM me in regards to your recent purchase from me (the Howling Rat)? And could you please acknowledge here in this thread that you've read this? Thanks.

Tony answers the next day:
hello yes i sent the money order sorry i havent gotten back to you earlier I don't check my emails every day please let me know when you recieve the money order .

The other seller wrote me:
I did not get the MO from Tony ( waiting 3 weeks to get the mo and all he got was excuses from Tony ).

Fair warning - you are wasting your time dealing with Monsterdawg725.

Sorry to hear about this happening to someone else. I am the other seller that the OP is referring to.

I did not originally post my experience here because Tony offered a plausible explanation, ie that the MO that he sent was simply lost in the mail. Unfortunately, it appears that a pattern is developing.

Tony agreed to purchase a Howling Rat I had for sale. After he said that he'd take it, we corresponded via e-mail to iron out the details. He replied to me instantly via his BlackBerry with his shipping info and that he would get the MO out right away. After approx. 1 week and not seeing the MO, nor getting any inquiries as to whether it had arrived, I tried to re-contact Tony via e-mail. A few attempts and several days later, I finally had to post in the BFC sub-forum that he seemed to frequent the most, and one that he had been on several times since purchasing my knife. While that finally elicited a response from Tony, he still refused to tell me what day he sent the MO or give me the MO number so that I could check on it myself. He also stated that he does not regularly check his e-mail, despite the fact that it is obviously forwarded to his BlackBerry. He asked for yet more patience and I gave it.

A week later, still no MO and no further communication from Tony. I try reaching out to him again and am met with silence. Only when I threatened to post here what I suspected (and inside my mind already knew) did he finally respond. His response was basically, "I'll look into it." I asked again for him to tell me what date it was sent and what the MO number was, and I received nothing but silence on those issues. He then got back to me, stating that the USPS said it hadn't been cashed yet. My thought was, "No kidding, you never sent it." BUT, at that time, I finally did state that I needed to sell the knife and gave Tony 3 choices: 1. Send PP; 2. Send another MO with the MO # and date sent: or 3. Let me sell the knife to someone else. In each case, I would simply return the original MO to him if I ever actually saw it. You all already know what happened--he picked choice #3 in a heartbeat. Finally, after about 3 weeks of screwing around with my new best buddy, Tony, I relisted the knife and resold it immediately.

In the end, Tony was very non-communicative and (IMO) feigned concern that his MO was lost. He has not inquired again about it to this day, and of course, it has never shown up. It never will because it was never sent.

I've had many, many excellent transactions with a great many people here and I am pretty sure I can recognize a bad seed when I see one. It's just too bad I didn't recognize it earlier. :o Oh well, don't let my mistake become yours. I know I'll not do business with Tony again under any circumstances.

Giving away his address to the public is just unnecessary and not cool. I am currently doing a trade with monsterdawg. He seems just fine to me.

Tony seemed fine to me too...initially. I hope the trade does work out, although I would not send anything until you receive what he is supposed to send. Of course, you are free to not learn from others' mistakes as well if you so choose.

Two different people; same exact pattern of poor behavior seems good enough reason to have extreme doubts. Perhaps MD725 has some information to support his side?
all da best,
rats...

It's one thing to say "I'll take it" and then realize you've taken one deal too many this month, and email the seller immmediately to apologize that you really can't afford it.

But to jerk him around for weeks? What, is this a game with him, he likes to see people sweat? THAT'S not cool. Definitely let the rest of us know who he is and what he's like.

I agree Esav, it's not cool to mess with someone like that for 2 weeks. However, exposing his address does not at all show what he is like nor prove anything. His name and email address should be enough. A person's home address is something that should be private and not be exposed on the internet without permission.

That's just my opinion on the subject.

I thought about this for a few days before posting.

I think good can come from exposing his name and address. Hopefully future problems for other forum members can be prevented.

One of the problem of posting with names like Tactical Tanto or Monsterdawg725 is anonymity. People might act and post differently if they used their real names.

All he has to do is change his username and he could potentially fool someone else.

The only concrete link to this person is his mailing address -the username, actual mailing name, and email address can all be changed.

I suppose that he could get around the mailing address too, but that would require a third party/ other residence.
