I aquired a 5300 a few weeks ago and loved the thing. There was one problem on it and that was the nail nick was a little too rounded over and my nail would slip out of it 50% of the time.I called Dave Moore and told him of the problem and he told me to send it back so he could take a look.He called me back and told me he didn't have any 2007's left, and I said to him,"I'll leave it up to you Dave.Just pick one out for me." Someone on another thread said he does this and picks a winner. That he did. I can see this is going to be in my pocket for quite a while, if not till I die. The knife I sent back had perfect dark yellow scales, and this one has a few black speckles on it, in which Dave apologized for. No apology needed as they add a little character to it. I hope thes pictures came out OK, if not, I'll have to take some more outside.
The F/F is superb. No blade play, the tops of the blades line up to the springs like a custom, I kid you not. The knife is 3 3/8 closed, just the right size, and for a small knife it has a weight to it.Blades line up and centered on all crinks. No blades touch each other, no gaps anywhere.

Thank you Dave.

plusses:
Tight, no blade play
Nail nicks, 2 in front, one on the haft side. All blades can beopened with the same hand.

I like that knife. Out of all the production companies, I find the clip blades on Moore Maker's stockmen the most attractive. I don't know what it is, but there is something about their lines that seem sleeker somehow.

Same here. Every knife I have owned with the exception of maybe a few, I always find some fault. This one I can't find any.

I like the california clip a lot. I wish my chestnut and amber case stockman had them. Only the yellow delrin ones do. That MM is beautiful you're one lucky guy.

Quality Company; quality people; quality knives. My 2305 horn handle is my EDC, the clip blade is a little more arched in the spine.

Nice one, Steve. Use it in good health. I had its larger brother (3 7/8") but had to return it for some issues. I still think there may be one in my future.

I have that one also. It's a very stout knife. I really like the shields too.

Elliot, you should email Dave and he'll take care of you.

Thanks Peter. Even the boxes are cool. I like when they package them up with pride.

I've spoken with them in the past. In this instance it was something the seller needed to take care of. Not worth going into.

You have to be careful on the net these days. I hear there are a lot of factory seconds floating around. Mooremaker gets their retail price and I think it is worth the insurance.

Now I'm torn, do I make it a safe Queen and use it for sunday go to meetings, or carry it every day and use it. I do carry a Wave for rough work and this one is perfect size for smaller more precise stuff.

Great knife!! You have to love that MM yellow bone!

You should use that sucker!!!

I recently picked up a brand new 5301 that looks just like yours. I love this knife and have never seen blades ground so thin!

I picked it up at a store in the country that sells sporting goods. It was made in 1995 and I bought it a month ago :D

Gorgeous knife! Nice to know I'm not the only one who prefers bone handles to have some unique "imperfections," feeling these add character. If I wanted a flawless single color, I'd get yella delrin (which I also really like, but that's a horse of a different .... well, you get the picture ;) ).

That knife was made to be carried and used. At the price paid you'd kick yourself for leaving it on the shelf. (imho of course.)

That it. I'm using it. I have come full circle again to stockmans. I get interested in other patterns, but always go back to the most useful.

Nice. Got any pics? A 1995 would most definatly have a pinned shield. Can you have a look for me? The thin blades will be most useful.

I know Elliot. Leaving it on a shelf would be like a kid looking at candy out of his reach. I just used it to hack up recycleables.

Thanks. I'm liking the smooth bone. I have been on a wood scales kick lately and the smooth bone is nice. I find myself fiddling with it like a worry stone while watching tv.
