It is strange that our fathers (my case) or grandfathers (possible your case) were sworn enemies 60-70 yrs ago. Anyone who was not there and still holds a grudge must have a screw loose. Anyhow I only posted my "love" comment because you clearly answered the question but the kid only thanked the mod.

I was just joking. I think at one point someone got a bit harsh, but that was because of a little misunderstanding, and I was the first one to get the stereotypes out. If I put this one -> :D under my post, you can consider the post ironic.

I also think my grandfather (my father was born in '57 and I in '91) didn't see allied forces as enemies, I don't know if they teach that on your side of the pond, but whenever I talk to people who experienced that dark time in our history they tell me they didn't want that war or anything else that had to do with it. There were few fanatical and obedient followers, a big mass of scared sheeple, and a few heroes who (for the most part) gave their life trying to overthrow Hitler. But that's not the point of this thread, and if there's anything more to say about this, shoot me a pm or mail.

I'm going hiking tomorrow, and I'll try to find a nice spot for the challenge! My BK-2 will get properly tested after the handle customization and the convexing, and I'll try to find/purify some water, make a fire and cook some food. I'll also try to get some pics for the BK77 giveaway, and for you pic hungry bastards of course!

Yeah, and context means alot, when I said that to meat, it was in regards to something completely different. Meat knows I got nothin' but luv for him, and all the Beckerheads, its just fun. If I had a nickel for everytime I been called a fatass hillbilly, I would have $7.65. :D

Plus, I said smolder, not burn, so, that right there shows much love to mein bruder. :D

You did actually call me a damn kraut? I must have been drunk, I don't remember :D

Maybe.

I think was drinkin' too.

SO, there is a communications break down between a drunk hillbilly, and a drunk german. Man. What are the chances. :D

I had no idea you were talking about a "joke" between friends. I know your a young guy meat (your dad is 3 years older than me) and I thought some jerk disrespected you with that remark and it kinda pissed me off. Sorry guys

Anyhow back to the subject at hand I have a question about clothing i.e. warm clothing it gets pretty cold up here at night even in summer (I'll be at about 4000 feet)...a sweatshirt would be nice. is this allowed? I've never participated in any of the challenges and I'm not quite sure what is acceptable.

Good thing you asked, I was gonna ask something similar, what about rain gear i.e. a rain jacket? It doesn't really get cold here this time of the year, I recently spent a night out with a tarp, long pants, a sweater and as long as the fire was going, I was toasty. No sleeping bag, no ground cover, just a few pine baughs (spelling?) But it can rain quite a lot and get pretty windy, so a good rain jacket/windbreaker is an essential piece of kit for me. Also, what about some sort of bandana or shemagh? I always have mine with me and use it quite a bit, mostly for carrying and collecting stuff, as a tablecloth for food prep, etc.

Dress for the weather, most definetly. I'm not asking for you guys to push the limits of safety, just experience a barebones 48hrs stay in the woods. I would say run a few layer so you can stay comfortable.

Hey Moose 7bBk2 here your challenge sounds awesome! This is gonna be sweet me and my pops, Idaho Guy are setting up separate camps in the Cabinet Mountains up here in the sticks of Idaho. Luckily I got a BK2 for my birthday to see me through this extreme situation ;). Thanks for the opportunity! can't believe I can win totally awesome Becker's just by camping for a couple days! Hopefully the moose and bears don't mind sharing their berry patches and watering holes :)
