I have been wanting to contribute to this thread, with an image, so I finally got around to taking one.....

Mora 2000, Normark Erik, and Normark Axe.....

I've always been curious about that ax. That smaller knife has the same weird grind as the M2K--doesn't it? My current small mora is the 510. I think I might like that little black handled one even mora. :D

No-- really. :)

IMO, The Mora 2000 is the best knife for the dollar in the whole industry. Bar None.

I've always been curious about that ax.

I've read that the Normark is a skinning axe only. If it really was limited to that purpose, a person on the trail might opt for the smaller size of an ulu instead. I'm not a hunter myself though, still, the Inuit have put the ulu to good use for millennia.

The Normark still looks effin' cool though.

The Normark Eric is an oldie, they don't make it anymore, though I would love to find a couple....

The axe is called a Skinning Axe, and it is just that.... And carrying an ulu would be easier, but that handle is pretty light, and it adds a good bit of options, I quite like it. Oh, the grind on it is just a scandi, though it stopped being that for me quite some time ago.

Make your own Ulu with a circular saw blade, grinding wheel, and lots of water: Pocket size, and handy as heck:

Blade guard is just some edge trim from an auto store.

The Cold Steel Norse Hawk is sort of like an ulu or skinning axe. Being a tomahawk, you can pop off the head to use one-handed. (This idea got a little coverage in the Axes subforum here a week or so ago.) And the price puts it right in line with a Mora.

The Mora 2000 is next one my list, went with the 510 and clipper first. Good pics of replacement sheaths in this thread!

I ordered a 2000 this morning after reading this thread....thanks for pushing me off the fence. Can't wait to start on a sheath for it...

Got it!!
I'm not a plastic sheath fan, but this one had a pretty good retention snap going, so i thought I would hold on to it, and see how long the retention feature will last.....so I encased it in leather....

Looks much mo betta to me....:D

Awesome work man, much improved!! A lot classier. What is your opinion of the blade now that you've got one in hand?

Just curious, how many people who have the M2K baton with it?

I have batoned (SP?) with mine a lot actually. I purposely tried to break it on one camping trip putting it through seasoned fire wood. It took it in stride except when it really got wedged in a really big knot. I had to send a wedge in after it to get it out. No damage to the blade or edge. I recommend one to anybody who looking for a decent starter knife for bushcraft and camping.

I haven't gone out and done anything with it yet....I don't want to get it dirty:jerkit:.....but it's heftier than the other Mora's I have, and of course sharp as all get-out!! i know I'm gonna like it....even don't mind the rubber handle....that much.....I guess.....

Who owns this knife? What are your impressions? Discuss

i have two and have gifted one the are top notch for the money baton well. the rounded nose is great for makeing notchs and traps. they are super stainresitant and light as a feather they are a stick tang so at least it runs the length of the handle. the only thing i didnt like about batoning was they transfer shock to the hand nothing major but just my OP on that. i would not hesatate to buy a third. they where unavalbe for a long time. i even bought the gift set with the ericson axe. another great its compact and can be used as a hope i spell this write "yull" for skining. ragweedforge is a great place to mora shop they ship super fast. thats important to me cause i hate waiting.
