Mora Clipper Destruction Test!

Not too shabby! Im surprised how the edge held up while being batoned through the concrete. I think a different version with a longer tang (510 for example) and one without the soft rubber grip which requires the solid plastic to be narrowed would have lasted quite a bit longer.

That just goes to show you..you get alot for $10. I just got one of my good friends hooked on Mora's..I showed him some knives and he picked up the mora...that was it..he has ordered 3 already and bought my Mora2K.

Somebody should email Skammer!
;)
Strange hes usually after commenting by now, usually whenever someone types "Mora" then "bamf!" Skammer is here almost instantaneously. lol.
His "Mora thread spydie-sense" must be not working today.
:D

Moras are great little knives. Definitely the best bang for the buck. They are great coupled with an axe/hatchet to cover the heavier stuff.
I like the Clipper a lot, IMO it probably has the best ergonomics of all the Moras.
But i think the Triflex might have held up better with its hard plastic handle and thicker stronger blade.
I wonder if Noss taped his outdoor session with the Clipper? He says in the clipper destruction test that he had already field tested it and batoned with it.

Darn. I was planning on battoning through concrete blocks with my Mora. Quess I am out of luck.:D

Better get a beefier knife. You never know when you'll find yourself encased in a tomb of concrete, it always happens when you least expect.

What did skammer say he did, he stepped on one and tried to break some ice with one?
That troll.

I love my 780 Triflex; in fact I just ordered another one! I think you might be right; it is said on Ragnar's site that it is supposed to be the toughest of all the Moras.

I don't think it would have mattered considering how it broke. The 780's tang is identical to the clipper's. The classic Moras, and maybe the Erikssons, would have fared a bit better I believe.

In defence of Skam, I do see his point about a larger knife. As for me After reading his remarks i did get a larger knife, even if its not the best knife there is. Its a bushman, that seems to work well. But for me what i use the most is a Mora. I stoped carrying the folders any more. I find the Mora is all i need. The Bushman goes with me too got plenty of room for it. I want that triflex 780 maybe next month i get it if i got some extra $$ and the 2k.

Damn, when I saw this thread I thought for sure the mora was gonna de-crown the Battle Mistress as the toughest/most indestructable blade on knifetests!

Seriously though, the Mora held up WAAAAY better than I was expecting. I thought for sure the concrete would be the end of the Mora!

Impressive!

Sasha, the bushman is an excellent blade, good choice!
Not much more expensive then a mora either.

Skammers alright, we are just having a little fun with his dislike of moras.
Maybe hes comes across as a little blunt sometimes with his opinions and this rubs some people the wrong way.
Theres nothing wrong with strong opinions as long as you are willing to back them up, discuss them openly and objectively consider alternative answers.
Thats what we are here for, to learn and discuss.
Maybe We all need to just loosen up a bit, lol.

For certain theres lots of knowledgeable people on this forum, i've learned a lot here.
:)

I keep meaning to order one of those.
Its too bad they don't make the mini version anymore.
I would buy one of those if they brought them back into production.

I think you're right. The 510 or 521 with the longer tang should hold up a little better. They just feel a little more solid, for some reason.

I am new to Moras but I like what I see so far. I never heard of them before but I did a google search for "cheap carbon steel knife" and...Eureka!, found them and this site at the same time. Before that I had been buying older used knives from ebay just so I could get carbon steel blades.
I absolutely love the Skookum Bush Tool and plan on getting one some day, but I don't believe for a second that it is 20 times better than a $10 Mora.

Damn... He should have tried 'normal' batoning first (i.e. with wood - - not concrete), at least that would have provided more useful information.

Better than nothing though. ;)

EDIT: "field/outdood test coming up soon", woohoo!
