Mora needs to pay more attention to their quality control nowadays! It's gettingworse

I'm a fan of Mora and scandi grind. I got a few mora2000 years ago. The etching on the blade is Mora 2000 K J ERICSSON. That is a great knive, both performance and finishing. A few days ago I went to a local store and try to buy some new ones as gifts.

When I was in the store, I see the new more 2000 bears the etching MORAKNIV Made in Sweden on the blade. Apparently this is a new version of mora2000 blade. I guess they come out from the same blade model with the mora2010. BUT when I try to pick one, I found this 2 section grinding(I don't know if it is the right name) is uneven on each side. It's astonishing that 80% of those knivies in the box(there're 2 and a half whole box there) have this problem or just ground unevenly or the shealth are unormally loose.

After I got a new one and back home. Funny things happen, it's 5mm shorter than the old one. It should be 115mm blade length, but now it's only 110mm, this a another reason make me believe mora 2000 and 2010 sharing the same blade model.(blade length of more 2010 is 110mm)

I guess there could be some problem with the model originally. Of course, these are not big issues in practise, but as a Mora fan, I would say they really need to pay attention to their quality control. This Mora 2000 and 2010 generally are the most expensive mora knives, and it's still like this! The worst things is their QC is alright at the first place, but now it's just get worse, maybe it's relatived with there merging activity. (Frost+KJ ERICSSON= NEW MORA)

Another funny thing is when I trying to email them to mention it. I can not find a email address on their website, you can just leave a message. Maybe they don't like to hear some opinions from end users just like some other conservative companies. I'm just guessing on this issue.;)

some pics about the problems:

I marked the uneven grinding with the green marker.

i bought one couple months ago, and i agree; it has similar issues. you know what i do about it...

i use it.

the issues on a low cost mora knife are for me, inconsequential.

That uneven grind will cause them to explode, you know! Cutting away, all nice...and then WHAMMO! The blade explodes.

I've seen it on YouTube.

That is just ridiculous!
I have bought my Mora 2000 something like 5 years ago or so. I can not remember - do you often remember whenn exactly you have bought something for 15 bucks?
And I do not actually care what lenght it is, what is written there on the blade, how their serface is treated and how sharp they are right out of the box...
Man, get real! It is like a cheap screwdriver - who cares how it looks! Would you complain about scratches on your new hammer? And some hammers come twice or three times more expensive than the thing you are talking about! Did it break on you? Does it do what it is supposed to do? What else do you expect from the poor thing?

You know, I do understand where he's coming from, as I've come to love Moras for what they offer. But, in the same breath, when you pay $20 for a knife that still works like a $50 knife, one has absolutely no reason to complain. Yeah, so the grind is off - does that mean the knife is any less functional? No, not really.

well, if more than one knife is like it, how can you be sure ts not part of the new design, i` dont know 4 sure, i am just sayin

I've said it's not a issue for using. I'm just wondering why they can do the QC fairly good before, but get worse now.
Just as my Swedish friends told me: Mora is a "peasant" knife! Fallkniven is the Swedish quality you should have.

Too bad Fallkniven is really a Japanese knife. And it is interesting how they manage to confuse so many people about that.

My more triflex came ground straight. The only problem I had were rough grinding makrs and a slight hollowing on the scandi edge. It took me 10 minutes to clean it all up.

The current trend of over-emphasis on cosmetics has me saying WTF.

It's a frickin' tool made for cutting things. It isn't a piece of art. I suppose if one pays a couple of hundred for a fancy blade, one might "pretty" in addition to functional. At the Mora price point, that's not a reasonable expectation.

You should except the fact that you did not get the product you wanted and paid for, you got a blemish instead... get over it...

if you want a knife with perfect fit and finish you have plenty of options, your wallet will make that decision.

Only the ones that can't read. Everyone else seems to enjoy them without incident. Reading is fundamental.

I think people need to stop being so unreasonable in their expectations of production knives in general. You want high quality? Cough up the money for a XM18, Busse, or a Sebenza. A Mora that is under $25 should not be scruitinized to the extent that one turns ones eyes into calipers and micrometers. This is getting absolutely insane with the nitpicking, my God... Let it go already.
