Mora... not impressed.

Ive got the Clipper, #1, and a 780 Triflex. All in carbon. The 780 is absolutely the best hard use knife out of the three. The blade and handle are larger than the other two also...KV

For those who knock them or don't want to use them, I thank you. Thanks for not driving up the price for those of us who do. My dad always said why use a dollar for what you can do with a dime.;)

i wouldn't worry too much about the price going up. by all accounts most of their knives are used domesticaly. builders, electricians, carpet layers ect carry them in the same way that british and US builders might have a stanley knife. when it gets blunt they throw it away.

I saw a thread on annother site, where someone visited the factory where they are made. one of his pictures was a pile of large white buckets (like you might get paint in). one of the buckets had it's lid remomved, showing about 50 odd clippers with "dewalt" branding on them. they make tons of the things.

I have a clipper, and have never had a problem. but my sharpening skills arn't exactly brilliant.

I don't worry much because I have a ton of them already.:D Besides I can't wear out the first three.

Get you this sharpener and never have a dull knife again. I don't use it much on convex but everything else, it will amaze you.

They cut and sharpen well just dont abuse them or count on them for heavy SHTF use. Great kitchen knives for boning and carving wood.

My take on mora's is well documented and will not dwell on it in this thread.
There will be no round 25 on this Jim ;) :) LMAO

perhaps not as common as i thought...

maybe i should have said that it's not surprising, instead of saying that its common.

Fair enough. Have you noticed this problem equally with carbon or stainless models?

Maybe I just got lucky with the one mora I have. You definitely have me wondering though, because I was planning on buying a handful of Clippers and putting nicer handles on them for re-sale. Hopefully I'll find a good batch. Testing will tell, I guess.

I just received a mora #2 on Friday. Today I tried sharpening a poverty of driftwood. Folded about
a 1/3" of the edge. Never seen that before even a cheap Chinese stainless. Very disappointing as
I've also heard good things about the knives. Hopefully some time on the stones will bring me good
steel. I have to remove the micro bevel anyway. My 22 grit stone is dished pretty bad so not tonight

Sometimes there is an overgrind (can't think of another word) and a few sharpenings will work it out. The carbon Moras are 1095 so the steel is good.

The Mora #1 is what it is. I'll never part with mine--I'm only sorry I didn't buy the entire basket of them at Major Surplus & Survival.

Some people can break anything.

???

They are good. Good enough that I bought the display box which had 20 plus piece of them. I even brought one to china where I am at now along with SAKs.

Doc

Are these KJE commonly seen with green handles? How long ago were they made? I got a batch like this too.

From the corrosion on those and the guard they look like 511s, but the hole in the handle isn't present on the 511s I'm looking at. I'm not clued up on the entire Mora range though.

Ragweed forge does a similar kind of Mora design in military green to the 511 as the 546-G but that's stainless.

This is KJE before frost. Heres the one I have.

Mine comes with a black sheath.
