Is there a BM around here that sells Moras? I want to go in, in person, and see them for myself. I'm planning a backpacking trip, and figure I need a handy Mora for it, (to go along with a SAK).

I don't care if it is a hardware store, knife store, gun store, or whatever. I just want to see them in person, and buy the one that fits my hand best.

Thanks gentlemen.

I don't know of any store in the Fresno area that carries Moras. Maybe one of these days when I get up to Fresno we can meet up and you can see my one and only Mora (plain old #1).

There's only a few decent knife shops here and none of them carry Mora's.

They are cost effectvie enough though to try out a couple , or get some recommendations here on BF.

I have two , love em both :)

I would say but a clipper and 511(some dont like the finger guard, I don't mind it and they stopped the 510 without it). It should cost you about 20 bucks without shipping. I have both and use both more frequently than some of my expensive blades. I would get carbon not SS. I dont mind the staining and rusting. I feel the extreme ease of sharpening is more than worth it.

OK, I have some good news. I was digging through some old boxes of camping stuff I had stored years ago. In them, I found an old Mora #1 with the traditional red painted handle, and the "fiber" type post war sheath.

On close examination, I think I have the laminated one, because of the differentially oxidized layers of steel. So, I'm set for the trip.

It's kind of nice to unearth old forgotten knives stashed away in unlikely boxes. My Sharpmaker sharpened it up like a champ. It slices beautifully.
