More "chef" than a Spydiechef

I thought this might be a fun thread to start over the holiday weekend, as I know lots of folks will be fishing, camping, grilling and preparing food in various ways. The idea for this thread comes from my latest considerations for obtaining a Spydiechef. I read everything I could find, watched reviews and the conclusion I came to (without handling the Spydiechef) is that I really like the Police 4 lightweight for general tasks and especially food prep. I think the Spydiechef is really nice and it definitely has a fitting place in the series of collaborations with it's designer, but right now, I see the Police 4 LW as more "chef" for me. Feel free to offer your own opinions on which Spyderco model you think is more "chef" than a Spydiechef. Add pics if you like.
Happy Independence Day, everyone!!!

I consider the Spydiechef blade much too short and rather thick for any real cooking/prepping work.
The new FRN Police model or a Military will be much more realistic.

I keep an S110V Millie on the countertop to be used as a bigger, stronger paring knife.
And I like a high hollow grind blade for cheese, like a Buck/Mayo TNT or a Sebenza.

D Danke42 : Love those scales. What model knife is that?

I really like everything about this knife

I'm interested in This topic too.

I don't have a spyderco yet, and idk all the models and lingo.....

*Please list names, models, options. For us less knowledgeable.
Sypderco Rock Lobster, Blade HQ Special edition. M4 steel and natural G10 scales.

Do you have a military? Because it's blade is thicker. The police is the same thickness as the chef when you look at.

Danke42,
You are correct,,, the Military is 0.145" vs Spydiechef 0.118" at the pivot area.
The Military does have a nice distal taper to the tip which gives it an advantage.
The Spydiechef is much too short for its name.

I know for me cheffin' stuff is all about the pointy tip and hole poikin. Balloons, pool floats, inflatable air dancer tubes. They all fall to the point.

For cutting stuff though my diet is only things that will fit in my mouth so something with a nice belly like the Spidiehef or the Rock Lobster do OK. That and and cutting oranges for cocktails or prying open reluctant pistachio nuts. If I didn't know better I'd say they followed me around and took notes about what I was going to cut.

The Spyderco that I personally use for food prep is the Sprig.
That thing is sweet! Been buying knives for a couple years now but before that, I have been away from buying knives for a loooong time. I missed out on that one, but I've been a huge fan of Spyderco since I picked up my first one in '98.

Dang, 😂 just read the messages on the spydiechef; I bought one today. Purposely for keeping in my apron when grilling, also for traveling on vacation etc. I hate renting a beach house and the kitchen cutlery is duller than a butter knife.

Congrats! Nothing wrong with that. We're just having fun with this idea.

The Native Chief should also work well in the kitchen.

Nice! This is the one that keeps calling me! As a bit of a deer hunter, I tend to buy folders that I can picture myself using to cut up game in a pinch. I have never cut meat with s30v, but folks say it looses that fine edge quickly, so I have been reluctant to pick one up. As far as the sprints/exclusives go, the s90v carbon fiber version was a bit pricey for me, I wasn't aware of the BHQ m4 when it dropped, and the CS xhp just grosses me out with the orange scales. So, I guess I'm still waiting for the right one...

I love this one for emergency foodprep(nothing beats a nice japanese gyuto IMO).

Same great steel as the Spydiechef, LC200N, and a nice long blade(for a folder).

It's basically a slightly more utilitarian Endura 4:
