More "chef" than a Spydiechef

Honestly the my militaries have been used for so many things including food prep... it's my favorite knife

I'm not big on "food prep".. I am huge on "eating" food! (Tho I did just add a Spydiechef, to the line up)

I haven't found a steel/model, that's not perfect! Lol.. (With proper care)

Z-wear, Maxamet, 20cv, s30v, M4, cruwear, CTS-XHP, etc..

Family dinner... Kids, wife, step dad, and myself.. (2x 20cv, 2x Maxamet, and a s30v)

Kids and I.. Cruwear, Maxamet, and Z-wear

Friend and I.. M4 and Maxamet

Friend and I.. CTS-XHP and S110

we happen to enjoy the 32oz prime rib.. lol..

I'll be testing the spydiechef, on the next one! (I'll report back)

Awesome! My kind of family.🍻

Nice! Did the mods go as planned? Are you happy with the results?

Also, what are the scales on the M4 Military in pic #4 above?
Didn't really have a plan.. lol..

Only plan I had, was getting rid of the "corners" to get to the frame lock and to thumb flick, more comfortably..

Some how, I ended up relieving the frame lock, for a more comfortable/natural, Spydieflick.

Then knocked all the chamfers and corners, off..
Came out, Great, in for my hand!

As for the Military.. They are, Boomer52, scales..
They came in stock shape.. They met the Dremel, as well..
They are Amazing, in hand!!

Ha! I know the feeling. Sometimes you just have to jump in so you're committed. I'm glad you ended up pleased with it.

And thanks for sharing about the scales, they look fantastic!

The Native Chief should also work well in the kitchen.

As long as you work toward the edge of the cutting board. (Disclaimer: I don't have one; so I haven't tried it... My statement is based entirely on appearance and handle angle)

The Spydero Resilience is about as chef as any Spyderco folder ever was.

Not long after starting this thread, I came across a deal on a Native Chief in s30v I couldn't pass up. I have been carrying it on the weekends for over a month and I've been using it for everything. I say weekends because the work pants I wear right now have that stupid piece of leather for a tape measure on the front of the pocket and I have a pair of Benchmade folders that ride perfectly in them, they're more suited for my workdays anyway. So far I am impressed with the s30v, probably due to the proper edge geometry. As for the overall design of the knife, I think it's about perfect for edc. I love the way it doesn't take up as much space in the pocket as the Military or Police 4 LW, or at least doesn't have the thumb ramp I have to work around (tip down). And of course, it makes quick work out of anything I pull out of the garden and has been a pleasure to use so far.

Congrats! Use it in good health and post a pic!

Pro cook here. The Military doesn't work so well for me, Endura somehow gets more edge where I need it, in spite of the shorter blade. My favorite folder for food prep is the Kapara, especially the 20cv version. Although I have several fine Japanese kitchen knifes, I actually prefer the Kapara for some kitchen tasks. Mostly I use the J knives tho.

I use my HAP40 Endura extensively for this, HAP is a common steel for mid to upper tier kitchen knives. My VToku Stretch also gets some use, have to be very diligent with care on that since any moisture or acid left on it will cause corrosion.

My 20cv Kapara gets more kitchen time than my chef too. My chef may want to be in the kitchen, but he has been conscripted to EDC work despite intended role. One of my top 5 fav. knives.
