Very interested in the Keycom!

Hi Will,

Where the heck did you find those?:eek: (usn???)
They look great some what more tactical. I like that new SF a lot.:thumbup: And that Keycom is tha BOMB!!!

Let's wait what our man Daywalker has to say about those!!!

Chad, I guess we would appreciate your comments, background ideas, purpose for those, please! :)

I like them. Looking at the Direkt, it might be able to open as a waved folder, depending on how it looks when in closed position - if the subhilt allows that or not. ;) Maybe the designer could bring more light in here.. :D

According to my findings;

Keycom is a keyringknive . Kind of a CLB micro;

1 1/2# blade
2 1/4# closed
AUS 8 steel
MRSP 24.95

Direct;

3 5/8 # blade
440C steel
Linerlock
Flipper
G10 scales
4 way pocket clip
MSRP 67.50 PE
69.00 CE

Those are PRE Production so the specifications/price may chance a bit!

Wow. Nice. I would love to see the Keycom w/ something like a 2.5" blade.

Hey, I know these knives! ;) I need to get myself one of those Direkt knives.
Congratulations Chad and keep up the good work.

Chad is just outta control! :D Great stuff! Thanks. :thumbup:

Looking closer at the Direkt, that should prove very secure in the hand. Long flipper, steep thumb ramp and "subhilt" type grip. Not much chance of slippage on that one. Good work, Chad. :thumbup:

No probs guys, and thanks Maarten for posting the specs. Can't take the credit for finding these though, another guy I know put them up before I did. Or at least for the source I got these from.

Been staring at the Keycom a fair bit (is that already a problem?), and it looks to me that while the Hyper is a larger Subcom, the Keycom is more like a shortened Trance than a Subcom variant. Looks perfect for a scalpel grip with that little concave bit near the tip. The angles should make it rather nice to work with in that grip too.

CHADTASTIC!! I would like to see a traditional style Tanto at some point. Please. Thanks for the great pics.

PLEASE CHAD, please, I BEG YOU. Try as much as possible to get a Kydex sheath on that fixed blade. Even though the injection molded one works well on my FB Subcom, I find myself carrying my TOPS Wolf Pup much more, simply because of it's kydex sheath. I know it might add some $$ to the price, but I'd glady pay an extra 5-10 $ for a good Kydex jobbie.

If not, I'll still buy it, but I really do not like having to pay $20 plus shipping to get a custom sheath. :(

Great knives! :thumbup:

Hey Will and others,

I got these specs from USN . I don't know them to be accurate for sure. I guess some pre-productions were send out for reviewing to major blade magazines.

If the specs on the keycom are correct it will be a hair shorter than the subcom series but a whole different one.
I like it very much . Will be like Subclaw's evil little brother LOL:D

I really like that neck knife Edit .... I'm getting one of each... ;)
on the Direkt, just forward of the thumbstud.....is that another spanish/sharpening notch :confused: lol :p
those "grooves" or "channels" in the handle scales are very cool....on the Subcomfolder variants those "channels" are very shallow but on the MType (especially) the grooves in the G-10 are around 1-2 mm deep and they provide awesome traction...

I just realised, the render shows the Edit to have a black coating. Will it be this way on the real versions?

Hey Will,

Did you notice the ergonomic features of the Edit look different as on the Subcom Fixed. Recoil is different and handle is tilted like on the Trance.

Coating will probably be Titanium Nitride like on Hyper/M-type.

The little cut out before the Thumbstud on the Direct might have something to do with blade holding when closed:confused:? Or is it just Chadoyance???:D

yeah Mat, I really like that 30+degree downslope of the spine of the blade (where the thumb jimping is) on the Keycom/Edit....looks "more ergonomic" than the "straight spine" of the SubcomFixed :cool:

The Edit may just be my answer to how I keep waiting out on getting a Fixed Subcom, seems much better to hold and use. The Keycom? I'll take three.

Finally, some knife with serrations close to the tip! Nicely done, Chad! Though I need some money for food, you know...
