More CLB!

The fact the Keycom has a clip makes my initial buy count jump from two to four. Think of all the places you could stash one! I could probably keep one in s sock it's that tiny, could easily be mistaken for a pen in a pocket.

I was lucky enough to see both of these at the SHOT Show, and the keycom will be a big hit! It fits perfect in the change pocket on a pair of jeans. My wife loved the clip. She plans on clipping it on the inside pocket of her purse (instead of having to dig through whatever it is she keeps in there that weighs 70lbs). I am counting the days until they arrive!
PS- If any knife in the Boker lineup should be done in "girlie" colours, this is it.

Assuming the pocket clip is removable like the rest of CLB's knives, those who don't want it can pop it off if they think it's in the way and run paracord or whatever through the lanyard hole, while those who love clips (like me) can use it as is.

Looking very nice! Wouldn't mind having Chad give us a bit more background info as you said, personally I'm curious as to why a keychain knife is getting a pocket clip.

hi Will, i'm guessing the clip will probably help purchase w/opening the knife (like on my Spyderco Spin, if you're a Righty) .... must make a great $ clip! ;)

Yes, that counts Will:thumbup:

No worries Mate.

I wish Chad could give us some more background info on these new ones:jerkit:..

Look at this interesting size comparison; (post #17 scroll down):

Greets Maarten

thanks for the cardboard comparison pix Mat (as well as posting all the specs) :jerkit::yawn::jerkit:
whoo hoo! olive lanyard included w/the Edit :)

I copied the text from Boker's German site for the Direkt and pasted it into an online translator. Check out what I got...:D

"The new Tactical-Folder of Chad. The Subhilt-design of the handle offers an unübertroffene Griffsicherheit whereby the front hand protection serves also as a pinball machine for opening. Alternatively the blade can be opened also over the beidseitigen thumb button. (!) Milled the beidseitigen! Scarves out of high-value G-10 with special BÖKER-GRIP surface support the certain Griffgefühl. The marketable Clip (Tip-up/Tip-down/links/rechts) the adapting of the deceit manner permits at the personal predelictions. The proved Liner curl technology locks the blade out of titanium-coated 440C-Stahl dependably. Total length 22, 2 cm. Sound 9,1cm. Weights 119 g."

So...the Direkt comes with G-10 scarves, a curl lock, and also functions as a pinball machine? Chad is gettin' freaky on us! :D:thumbup:

He Scott,
Funny online translator you got there lol....
I guess it doesn't recognize certain words. In german ( that is the catalogue 2008) it says it has a linerlock. ;)

I also found out on the german messerforum that these new designs will be available medio mai
i , so whe have to be a little patient..

The Edit may be my first EDC fixed blade from the looks of it. Might work for neck-carry or a Mercharness for those inclined.

The Keycoms also have a niche, a knife that small is always nice as a back-up. I used to have a Spyderco Jester I loved, but the problem was, it was clip-less and fumbled in my pockets. Ended up looking for a small blade with a clip. Randomly decided on a Subcom, haven't looked back since. Discovered a whole new breed of working knives that surpassed the 'gentleman's knife' I was originally looking for. The Keycom is the knife I wanted way back then that didn't exist.

Doubt it'll ever replace my Wharcom. Well, actually I had to part with it in a tragic fashion, but its replacement is on the way and I'm not sure how to get by until it arrives. The Subcom line seems complete. Classic, Wharnie, Hawkbill, even a Rescue hook and a half-serrated option on the colored models. There's a demand for more color options, but besides that, I really can't imagine another Subcom relative. Besides the Hyper, anyway.

Aloha ALL,

My apologies for not being around as much...things have been hectic here, and I am combating both a cold and the dreaded vog! Cripes!

First of all, MAHALO MUCH for the great response toward three of my latest designs, which again oddly enough, are "old ones". Now, if my buddy Maarten us done :jerkit:, we can go over some basics of "the latest three from Boker + and CLB".:D

The Edit: Basically just a small FB that will be very comfy to carry with enough blade for most utility usage. I am SO happy that this one will wear the same Ti-Coat that the M-Type and Hyper have! It will survive the climate here much better than the SFB. Blade slots will aid in grip, as well as the cool lanyard that comes with it.;)

The Direkt models: This one sorta feels like a "stick" in hand. Notice how the handle is very straight, and has enough pommel for punyo strikes either opened or closed. Also, it has excellent (or at least should have, I have not gotten one yet) retention due to the sub-hilt. Both CE and PE models will also have the Ti-Coat...right on! Oh yeah, about the CE blade...Dialex is correct in that I call it the Midway Edge. Hopefully, the production models of the CE version will have the serrations placed a bit further back than shown in those killer renders. I was shocked on two notes: That Boker actually had enough faith in my edge design to produce it, and that it will be a liner lock??? Obviously, I prefer a framelock...but let's just see how this liner lock goes. Also be advised, that this edge concept has been tested on an old Opinel #12 I "made" serrations on in the "MidWay Edge" fashion...worked as planned!;) Large flipper ala Carson, and four way carry...*sigh*...I cannot wait for this one.:)

Um...oh yeah, KEYCOM...I think it was Maarten who stated it would do well in the scalpel grip, and he's absolutely correct. Glad the clip was added for very discreet carry. It will also be available in black...I wonder though, PE or CE? Keycom is self explanatory...there is no excuse to not have a knife on you...unless you are on a plane or something...:p

Alrighty everyone, I will catch up over the next few days...I am feeling like cr*p, but I will admit that reading your threads and posts made me feel a lot better...

Mahalo much and God bless!
See you all soon.;)

thanks for filling us in w/the details Chad...... can't wait to try out that Midway Edge  hope u get better (health wise) quickly :)

Hi Chad,

What's up Bro... Take lots of Vitamines and get well soon!!!

I like that Edit a lot and i think it's great that it has this bomb proof Ti coating. My Hyper doesn't show any scratching and has seen some nasty stuff my friend.
I like its bladeshape and ergos and might be an improving of its regular sub F brother.

Lets hope this keycom black one will come in CE . I think tiny blades can boost there performance a lot with serations. My favorite Subclaw gets lonely and needs an evil little brother to pester. lol..

Although i am not such a tactical guy i think the Direkts bladeshape is not so specialized it will work well as an EDC next to SD purposes. I also think the handle can be used like a kubotan.. the G10 looks somewhat simular to the M-type.

I find that most part used with cutting is 1/4 to 1/2 from off the tip. So this midway concept is interesting.

After your remarks on the opening of the Hyper when putting it in or out your RFP i observed something;

The thumbstuds stick out when the blade is closed. On the G10 side about 1mm above the handle on the Lockside about 2 mm . I think sometimes the thumbstuds hook themself into the pants fabric and work like a wave opener. Might be saver to alter the tumbstuds to a little shorter ones to prevent this from happening????
I think especially with tip down carry this could improve the safety . I prefer tip up myself and this opening has occurred a couple of times getting the knive out of my pocket. Never happened putting it in my pocket.
That is the only thingy about the Hyper that could be improved a bit. The knive is in serious competition with my other (f)fg edc's.

Now i stop babblin . uhhm

Be safe and take care and keep the mountainspirits happy;)

Maarten

Finally, some knife with serrations close to the tip!

AMEN! Being an unapologetic member of the serrations-must-be-in-front-near/at-the-belly school of though for many years, I'm glad an innovative designer like CLB thinks along the same lines.
