More gun questions...

There are still quite a few Mark IIs kicking around in the used market. I bought the Mark III because the brand new ones were going for about the same price as a used Mark II.

CDNN has a few FN (Belgian) Hi-Powers left with the SFS system; all the standard ones in 9mm are sold out. I personally like the SFS - it's a safety system that you engage by pressing the hammer down. It does not decock the action, just sets the hammer down into a half-cock type position and locks the trigger; when you disengage the manual safety the hammer pops up and it's ready to go in single action.

There are also a few sources for the FM (Argentine) Hi-Power. It's an exact copy licensed by FN, the parts are interchangeable with the Belgians. I got mine through Sarco. It's a great pistol at an excellent price.

I just had a FEG HP9 ( an Hungarian clone of the HiPower) worked on a bit by Cylinder and Slide and it is now very nice. Out of the box it was a little too rough to feel confidence in, and I didn't have the time or patience to put 2,000 rounds through it to smooth it out. So I paid an expert. It also got the SFS system installed by them, which I really like (- it's made for 1911s and I'm thinkin'....) It also has Spiegle checkered wood grips which thin down the handle a lot, and Novac 3-dot sights, which correct my other complaints.
