More on the Junglas

I disagree. The shit is not going to hit the fan. But if that's what's keeping people buying Junglas knives then, yes, THE SKY IS FALLING!!!!

Very well said gregncat, reminds me of that saying "too much of anything isn't good for you" at the end of the day at least if it does happen sooner than later you're prepared. Faith & family are important. Part of the reason you had the mindset to prepare was for the goodness & well being of your family.

Thanx tor the comments! that was nice to hear!

I also used to live in a large populated area but we sold that house and moved to the country. Now we're on a 10 acre property, mostly wood, but the back acre was cleared when we got the place. I ploughed it and we grow corn and beans and anything that can be preserved with a little room for tomatoes and cucumbers and things like that for the summer. The house is heated by a central wood burning stove that can also be used for cooking. I raise chickens and rabbits for eggs and meat.

I'll tell you, this country living has really brought us together as a family. We started Homeschooling which is great by the way. We learned to work together or we don't have wood to burn for the winter and we freeze (Not literally but it will be allot colder). I feel like a pioneer sometimes. My boys love getting into the woods, they'll be out there all day if I let them. Beats the crap out of sitting in front of the xbox all day.

But at one point I was seriously considering raising horses too. Just because if the "Collapse" does take place and we have to leave the house, the SUV will only take us so far and then we're on foot. So with the Horses maybe we could get deeper into the hills if we need to, and the Horses can pack the supplies with us. Just making the point that this is where this kind of thinking can lead if you let it get hold of you.

So yes we are prepaired but only because I let myself run away with all this. But I don't think about it like I used to, In fact it seems strange the way I used to let this kind of thing bother me so much.

All you people that are going to run to the hills, have you ever thought about how you are going to sustain yourself for a long period of time? If you think you're gonna do it hunting and forgaing, well I call bullshit on that. If you're gonna grow your own groceries then you'd better be preparing the soil now because you don't just throw seeds in the ground and make a great garden the first year in most locations. So, ask yourself is this a Walter Mitty thing or have all of you seriously considered what it takes to live a self-sustaining lifestyle?

Been doing it a couple years now actually. But it's not important to me anymore

lol Saying it will hit the fan may be reaching a little, but a big change will happen when & how is up to gods plan.

I can understand that

I honestly don't know where i'll run, lol but I know you can't just put seeds in soil & expect crops. I also know that people will have to have some kind of tribe thing going because it wont happen all on your own

Well duh, you gotta water it too..
;)

What I want to know is what are they going to do when they get to the "hills" and meet the well prepared people who allready live there...

I'm up, they see me, I'm down.
Anyone else know this drill?

The hills i would run to is private family property in the Adirondacks so i'm not worried about the people up there, they are armed & friendlies. There are 3 parcels of of land next to one another in Herkimer not too far from little falls & utica A stream runs thru this land as well. Thing is its a 5 hour drive from this damn terrorist target city I live in

I think if TSHTF we will all starve to death withing like 6 months. The whole survival situation thing is fun to plan for but unless you live in the middle of nowhere in canada you won't be able to obtain enough food living in the woods.

And for me the perfect combo when I go hunting is a big chopper that can double in food processing and a utility knife.

My current favorite setup is a Waki and a RMD :) which alot of people will say is stupid but hey its a ton of fun.

Social networking and knowing how to deal with people will get you much farther than any tools. I laugh when someone thinks they're going to bug in/bug out or whatever thinking they're going to go it alone. If you're alone you're an easy target. Get a group together or failing that study sociology, psychology or just people in general so that you can organize. Aquiring arsenals, stockpiling food, buying up 1000's of rounds of ammo etc means nothing if you're going it alone. You go it alone you'll lose. Also, I agree with what has been said about the food. Hunting and foraging might be sustainable for some with the infrastructure we have in place to support the masses but when that infrastructure collapses, there isn't going to be a few people trying to live off the land, it's millions. There just isn't enough land and resources to support that. You need concentrated centers of high output farms to support the population we already have. Also, what are these alternative medias? Isn't that just conspiracy theorists pandering to conspiracy theorists? I really don't know.

That being said a tomahawk or machete is a far superior blade to the Junglas in all the aspects you described.:D

Best two quotes of this whole thread!

Nuclear devices do not discriminate between people with knives or guns. No need to worry. All this talk about doom and gloom is making me hungry. I think I will make a pot of gumbo while I still can.

I wonder if TEOTW will happen a couple years later in SC than in the rest of the world. Everything else seems to. There's places here where Confederate currency is still legal tender.

What has been set in motion?

IT... IT has been set in motion...Now if only someone can define what "IT" is exactly we may get somewhere...:p

So...when all the "IT" hits the fan...Where is everyone going to "Bug Out" to exactly? Live in the mountains? In a pineapple under the sea?

IT is the same as THEY and THEIR. You know it's all their fault and they are out to get us. Sad part is they are usually the same as us once you research it a little bit.

I thought we were all going to Jeffs house, isn't that why I joined this club?

i'm really glad this thread turned around a little bit. at first, it seemed a little ridiculous. i'm not pretending to know everything that goes on in the world, but i'm certainly not afraid of any impending collapse. the only collapse that seems realistic is economical, but i'm not sure i can see that actually happening either. not completely anyway.

basically, i don't have time or energy to live in fear. based on the op, it seems that the "non-mainstream media" is into scare tactics just as much or more than the mainstream. i can't stomach either. sure, preparing for the worst is fun (obvious from sales of junglas knives and versipacks), but we'll probably continue to live more comfortably than much of the world for the rest of our lives.

you guys that are all so scared are the reason i couldn't find .45 ammo for the first two years of obama's administration and also the reason all of it jumped in price. i used to pay $13 for a brick and now it's at least $20. :( stop playing their game. ;)
