More thoughts on cutting comps...

Guys
The best I can tell you is be patient. Some started kicking this around over a year ago, nearly two.
Some very good points.

Maybe I'm one of those knuts. But I'm planning the "Sword Arts Cutting Competiton" for next fall in Texas. $$$TWO GRAND$$$ cash to the grand champion. Any style blade up to 6 ft. overall. Nothing subjective in the judging, only results count.

Dang,
That is a lot of money to cut something. Do we have to guess or is there some sort of "building to the contest" items to cut. Just wondering as that would be something to watch and learn from. If it is going to be at the SOS show, I might be healed up enough to play. :)

I thought to keep it simple the first year and limit the cuts to rolled straw mats. Whoever cuts the most mats wins! Any sword that passed the safety inspection could be used. There would be an entry fee yet to be determined. Trophies in various catagories, (European single hand, katana, etc.), but only one cash prize.

We are negociating on the venue, but it could be exciting.
