Took the kids out today, nothing showing up in NW Indiana yet... Still early tho, the cottonwoods haven't budded out yet and the trillium are just starting to leaf... A nice evening rain should do it.

Seems like a good topic for the Wilderness & Survival Forum. I bet there are some mushroom hunters there.

Let’s see if we can find the right forum …

The trout didn't want to coorporate this evening so we picked a small bag of mushrooms. Not too many and most around three inches. Enough for the frying pan tomorrow night.

They call them "Dry-land-fish" around here is SW Virginia. I first thought it was from the taste, but I'm beginning to think it may be from the thrill of finding one...and another....and another :)

You run into little batches here and there. Like fishing.

Were due for a little rain this w/e and a big warmup. Should make for a great harvest.

They say they are up here in NE KS too, but I haven't found 'em yet. The ticks found me while I was lookin' though.

I picked a mess yesterday. Ate them today. Grey ones mostly. Hot and humid today. Bet the yellow ones are up.

Now that's a dry-land-fish :)

Found a big batch of the really ugly long ones with the black caps on them also. Cant really tell any taste difference, but they are ugly.

Might have to take myself and the Missus fishing soon. We've owned our place two years now and I have yet to wet a line. I am ashamed....

If you guys ever go morel hunting in Oregon, you may need Dipbait's gun. There's $$ in those land fish.

Where do you hunt in VA? We find most of ours in Alleghany, Craig, and Rockbridge.

I am in north central Indiana and haven't seen any yet but with the weather we are having I expect then to be popping up soon, the weather the past couple of days has been good a good evening wet and sunny day would be just the ticket.

Those look great! Still early here in mid-west Ohio. I've been checkin woods every day during walks. It has been warm and it's moist with more rain due so shouldn't be long. A friend and I are going to SE Ohio Saturday. Hope to get enough to eat. :D

They haven't come up yet here in central IL. I have been out three times and have not found any yet. Hopefully by this weekend they will be up. You guys are teasing me with all these pics of them.

I just got home from huntin, and picked a mess of them. Not very big yet, Ill post a pic soon............
