Well, here I go again…
Traded for this SWEET custom folder from Samuel Morrish. It’s a Vanguard #4 flipper, with what I have been told is a D2 blade, but I have also read threads that claim his Vanguards are M4. I sent him a message requesting clarification, but have not yet heard back from him. Either way, it’s excellent tool steel. I am not the original owner, so I will not claim mint condition, but it does not appear carried or used to me at all. Lock up is early and as bank vault as bank vaults can get. Flipping action is excellent for a mid-sized knife. ZERO blade play in any direction. I’ve owned Striders and Grayman and other excellent framelocks. Not taking anything away from any of them, but this Vanguard looks and feels like it could eat them for lunch.
Since I could not locate much information on this young, relatively new knife maker and his offerings, on the forums or elsewhere, I included links to a Youtube video on Sam Morrish, as well as his Facebook and Instagram pages. I was impressed with the video and photos, bu I am far more impressed with his Vanguard in hand.

Which brings me to my current dilemma. I am forever drawn to these impressive custom folders. Can’t resist them. Also can’t bring myself to carry them. Which is why I typically end up trading them for productions that I will carry and use, since I no longer keep a ‘collection’ per se. So, if you would like to pick up an extremely well made custom folder from an up and coming maker without the big price tag or long lead time, here’s your chance.
Trade interests include certain Ultratechs, BM806-1101, BM730-1301, M4 Griptilian, large Sebenza or Umnumzaan, SNG CC or DGG, Protech Magic BR-1, Protech Integrity, ZT0452CF, ZT0562CF, ZT0801BRZ, ZT0804CF, Vallotton D/A Conversions, TAD Dauntless, DPX Aculus. Southern Grind Spider Monkey, Spyderco Vallotton Sub-Hilt. Can add or receive cash as appropriate. Thanks!
