Photos Most carried blade of 2019

I’ve been EDCing a large Star-Benza exclusively since some time in mid-12/2018 and I haven’t yet encountered a situation where it didn’t meet all my needs.

My most carried knives this year in order:

1. Spyderco SPY-DK
2. Spyderco Manix LW S110V
3. CRK Large Sebenza 21 Insingo

Honestly, if you guys are into slippies, the SPY-DK is excellent.

My most carried overall was a late-year addition: the Pena X-Series Rhino. This chunky yet refined little brute is just a phenomenal knife, and one that doesn't receive much attention from the hobby/community.

I rotated knives a few times a week for most of the year, so the several weeks of carry this one got was enough to push it over the top even though I didn't get it until October.

Close seconds would be the Medford Praetorian G (bottom row, green G10) and PM2 (top row, red G10).

In a lot of ways 2019 was the year I became a knife collector, as opposed to an accumulator who loves knives. ;) My collection exploded, I curated it ruthlessly with sell-offs, and the whole batch of cutlery below brings me joy.

Much of that is due to BF, which excels at showing off sexy knives and helping people spend their money. :D But truly, humor aside: thank you, BF, for being a great community!

From left to right:

The Milwaukee fastback hawkbill is easily my most carried knife for the past 6 years. It gets used all day every day at work. And I work a lot.
The bestech barracuda come in a close second this year as my go to work knife.
For outside of work and casual edc my cold steel ad-15 saw more pocket time than anything else this year. But I have to send it to cs due to slightly lock rock. I’m very reluctant to send it out because I like it so much.
Lastly, my Emerson cqc-15, My first Emerson and one of my earliest knives acquired when I got back into collecting and higher end productions. For some reason, the cqc-15, hasn’t left my pocket since October, despite owning it for 6ish years.
only the barracuda and ad-15 were acquired in 2019. I snagged the ad-15 as soon as it was available and was my first new knife of the year. I’d been on the fence over a custom one for quite a while and when the production model was announced there wasn’t a second thought. I fell in love instantly.
The barracuda was actually the second knife of 2019. Purchased as a gift for me by my wife. She knew I wanted something to carry at work more like my casual edc’s that could perform the tasks I require of the hawkbill. She nailed it with the cuda surprisingly. Bestech makes a good knife. We had an incident at work, end of day on a Friday. A tow truck, on a busy state road, clipped some low sagging triplex and ripped over a secondary pole holding 4 service drops, 2 of them underground risers. Not fun. Me and my partner being the work whores we are were the only crew still on and managed to complete a new set and all repairs in less than 2 hours. Anyways in the middle of the chaos, the barracuda either slipped out of my back pocket or was left on the ground in the middle of the commotion and got run over by countless vehicles. Only the pocket clip broke, which was replaced by bestech without hassle. Besides some cosmetic scuffs the cuda is still perfect.

My tanto umnumzaan followed by Freeman 451 button lock folder.

I've carried the Nemesis mpr3t a fair bit also.

Bk14 about 350 days and some spyderco salts that were always on me as well.

The Salt 2 weighs like 2 oz and dissapears IWB, so there's no reason not to drag it along incase a serrated blade is a better tool for the job.

TBH, my most-carried knives are my SAK Executive and my SAK Spartan. No matter what other knife I carry as my clip-knife (which lately has been my Manix 2), I always have those two SAKs on me, and they see a lot of use. I’ve been carrying the same Executive for going on 21 years now.

Dude, I want to hear some details on that XM-18! What blade steel? It looks awesome!

Number one & number two remain unchanged, the Spyderco Southard followed by the Umnumzaan tanto. I just can’t quit them.

The Rhino is a great small carry, and I frequently grab it when indecisive.

The BM 940 makes the list because a pair of favorite trousers has a side thigh pocket that seems specifically made for it.

The Schempp Bowie is one that is hard to put away once it’s made it to my pocket. It’s a surprisingly good EDC.

AEB-L, super thin grind. I can dull the blade and it still slices everything.

Microtech Molan Labe Ultratech.

It's my secondary knife that sits in my rear left pocket. It's my most carried because I almost always have it as my 2nd knife to my main carry.

Jim, I got my first executive a year ago last August, and I used to think it was kind of an in-between SAK with no real use. Boy was I wrong!

It's taken over most of my EDC day to day pocket knife carry and use. Outstanding little pocket knife for the real world.
